If not Warrior

By Scott Keith on 24 May 2016

Even though he failed on top, was Warrior still the right guy for Hogan to put over or should they have waited? Was Hogan’s popularity exactly dwindling at the time?

The thought was that Hogan wanted to go be a big movie star, I think, and they wanted to get the title off him. With the benefit of hindsight, they probably should have just kept the belt on him, but the double-shot of Hogan-Earthquake and Warrior as champion should have been enough to maintain two hour show circuits. But it wasn’t. Again, it comes down to Warrior just not having a compelling opponent coming out of Wrestlemania. He’d already beaten everyone and there was no one new to beat.
