William Regal and King of the Ring

By Scott Keith on 21 April 2016

Scott,

Two quick questions:

1. Just randomly thought about all the King of the Ring winners. In 2008, William Regal won the tournament to be crowned King, succeeding his old boss King Booker (T) who won it back in 2005. My question is, why? He was in the twilight years of his career and was a good seven years past his hottest spell with the company. Just thought it was a bit odd.
Parting gift maybe?

2. Which tournament winner, in your opinion, benefitted most by being crowned King of the Ring?

1. Parting gift is a good description, I think.

2. Harley Race. Extended his career by YEARS that he shouldn’t have had without the silly King gimmick.
