Question…

By Scott Keith on 10 December 2015

Why is it I prefer to sit through an episode of Wrestling Challenge jam packed with DUD squash matches rather than a live PPV in 2015? Could it possibly be commentators and anaylists such as Monsoon, Heenan, Ventura and Vince could make almost any match entertaining through their back and forth face/heel banter? I would even throw Savage, Alfred Hayes, Johnny Polo and ROB BARTLETT into that category too. I find it quite disturbing in a day where fans couldn’t be more in touch with the product that the commentary team takes itself so seriously to the point of being criminally boring. Would it hurt to inject a slither of humour into it? They just sit there like three robots, churning out the same nonsense over and over again and I don’t think I can take it anymore. The power of commentary during the 1990’s could turn a poor show into an average show and an average show into a good show, but now I feel it is the exact opposite. Good becomes average and average becomes poor thanks to the commentary team alone. Remember when CM Punk did some commentary a few years back? That is exactly what we need on a weekly basis to make these three hour shows less of a drag.

I dunno man, you’re forgiving some pretty awful commentary teams there in the name of nostalgia. There are a million problems with the product, starting with the three hour length, and changing the commentators is pretty low on the list of fixes to be honest.
