Shogun Rua vs. Brandon Vera is going to main event UFC on Fox 4?!?! Do they really expect this fight to bring in high ratings?
No, silly, it's all about the DEMOGRAPHICS according to Dana. And this was the backup main event, originally it was going to be Brian Stann v. Hector Lombard but Stann got injured (along with everyone else on the roster this week). Now, you'd think the non-stubborn way to deal with this whole thing would be to either:
a) Move Ortiz v. Griffin onto national TV because you'd have two name fighters in a fight where you can give it away without hurting PPV buys, or;
2) Set up Shogun v. Machida in a rematch of a former big PPV title match where fans would be interested to see it, but again there's no longer serious title implications so you can give it away for free.
I really think Dana White is just doing this to spite Dave Meltzer sometimes. I'm sure this show won't do as bad as Miller v. Diaz, but Brandon Vera ain't pulling in ratings, that's for sure.
