Arn Anderson joins Bob to start, and he’s sick of hearing about Dusty Rhodes from the fans when he’s in the ring and out for a meal afterwards. It’s very distracting! It cuts down on his performance! So that’s why they decided that Flair would step aside from the Crockett Cup tournament and put an end to Dusty once and for all.

US Champion Magnum TA v. David Dellinger

Belly to belly finishes in 0:23.

Meanwhile, on Worldwide Wrestling, Jimmy Valiant and Pez Whatley are doing yet another promo about Paul Jones and his army, but Pez suddenly gets pissed off and turns on him, beating him down and cutting a chunk of his hair.

Joel “Nighthawk” Coltrane joins Bob to discuss the rather shocking heel turn we just saw, because he’s been friends with Pez for a long time and he’s offering his help.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Valiant does a low energy promo in his normal speaking voice, with his shirt still torn up from the attack, talking about how hurt he is by the betrayal and discussing how maybe he’s too caring. And if Pez suffered from some kind of seizure, he should come see Valiant and he’ll give him help. Well that was something.

Hector Guerrero v. George South

Hector takes him down with a couple of snapmares and controls with a headlock. South reverses to a wristlock, so Hector backflips out of it and takes him down with a wristlock of his own.

BREAKING NEWS: Ted Dibiase is injured, so the UWF team in the Crockett Cup will be Terry Taylor & Steve Williams now, and they’re still seeded #10. And yet the actual UWF tag team champions, the Fantastics, are unseeded. Hector hits a pair of Saito suplexes and finishes with a leaping splash at 3:24. Hector was way ahead of his time.

Paul Jones and his newly upgraded army join us, and Pez Whatley is now dressed much more classy, with tie and top hat. Baron Von Raschke is also very classy, sporting a monocle. So then Pez does his first heel promo, calling Nighthawk an UNCLE TOM and threatening to leave Jimmy Valiant bald-headed. And from now on, he’s no longer Pistol Pez, he’s the Zulu Chieftain…SHASKA WHATLEY. I’d like to say this did anything at all for Whatley’s career, but it didn’t.

Wahoo McDaniel v. Tony Zane

Wahoo chops Zane down right away and the announcers expect that Jimmy Garvin will live up to his word and come to meet him any time now. Wahoo controls with a headlock and then hits another chop to finish at 1:40.

World TV champion Arn Anderson & National champion Tully Blanchard v. Gene Ligon & Vern Deaton

Tully and Arn double-team Ligon and work the arm, then let Deaton in so that Tully can slap him around and do some strutting. Arn rakes Deaton’s face on the ropes, but Ligon manages another tag before Tully cuts him off immediately. Ligon fights back on Arn for a bit, but Arn cuts him off and chokes him out on the ropes. The crowd really wants Dusty, so Arn takes out his aggression on Ligon to teach them a lesson. Tully and Arn takes turns stomping on Ligon in the corner and then hit him with a Demolition Decapitation in the corner and finish with the slingshot suplex at 3:44.

Ronnie Garvin shares a story about talking with a fan, who informs him that the reason he hasn’t beaten Ric Flair is that he doesn’t know how to cheat. So he’s gonna learn.

Wahoo McDaniel joins Bob and he came back because Dusty asked him to, and then complains that he’s teaming with Mark Youngblood and they should have been seeded at least #4 because they used to be World tag team champions. Huh, I always forget about that one. But then Precious interrupts and sprays him with her aerosol, calling him “Yahoo” and telling him that she’ll teach him how to treat a real woman. So Wahoo threatens to slap her around and she backs off.

Ric Flair joins us, complaining again about being so good looking and rich and thus unable to lead a normal life out of the public eye. This leads us to footage from World Championship Wrestling, where Ricky Morton stops by to chat with Ric, and Ric gives him a training bra from one of Morton’s fans. Ric likes the BIG GIRLS with full sweaters, not the teeny-boppers like Morton goes after. So Morton stomps on Flair’s shades, and you know that’s not gonna stand, and the brawl is on, which ends up with Morton beating on him in the ring to win. Back at the studio, Ric complains that Morton obviously hit him from behind and now he’s made himself a target.

Baron Von Raschke & Shaska Whatley v. The Italian Stallion & Ben Alexander

Paul Jones debuts his new military fatigues look here, making him look like even more of a dork. The Stallion gets some offense on the Baron with a dropkick, but Shaska comes in with a slam and some dancing. Flying forearm finishes Alexander at 1:30.

Joel Nighthawk Coltrane joins us again for another word on Whatley, and he’s no longer brothers with him! Where he comes from when you call a man names…it’s just no good, ya know? With promo skills like that I’m shocked he didn’t end up World champion.

Dusty Rhodes joins us, apparently with a sponsorship from Eastern Airlines, and he doesn’t want to hear about Pez Whatley starting more shit with Jimmy Valiant and he doesn’t want to hear about Pez calling anyone else “Uncle Tom” because Dusty will break his jaw.

Ivan Koloff v. Rocky King

Man Rocky was pretty cut up here, surprised they never gave him much of a look. King actually sends Ivan into the post and goes up with a double axehandle before working the arm, but Ivan tosses him and then necks him on the top rope on the way in. Rocky comes back again with a backdrop and dropkick out of the corner, and a slam gets two. You can tell he was very nervous and Ivan was patiently feeding him. King goes up and Ivan hits him with the Russian Sickle on the way down and pins him at 2:45. So the Russians proceed to whipping King, but Magnum makes the save and the building damn near explodes as TA hangs Nikita with his own Russian chain and lays out Ivan before walking off. And then he storms over to the desk and does a fired up promo about how he’s ready for a chain match and he’s pretty sure Nikita doesn’t want none of him now!

Great show this week. The Morton-Flair feud was something else and Jimmy Valiant doing a subdued promo was something you never saw.
