BREAKING NEWS: Tully Blanchard’s 4 week deadline to win the National title has ended, and Dusty Rhodes is still the champion! I’m not so sure about your detective work there, Bob. Although I think the dating is a week off on these.

Jimmy Valiant joins us and promises to make Paul Jones a bald headed geek. Again.

The Rock N Roll Express v. Pat Tanaka & Gene Ligon

Morton is of course sporting a cast on his hand after getting it broken by the Midnights, but it does not appear to be slowing down his rocking and/or rolling. And they hit Ligon with the double dropkick for the pin at 1:00.

Magnum TA joins us, along with Jim Crockett, who proposes the biggest contract ever offered for a TV match to defend against Nikita. But the Russians won’t sign, which is the only thing holding up the match now. Goddamn Russians, they’re worse than Jon Jones and Conor MacGregor COMBINED. And Magnum isn’t letting the US title fall into the hands of some RUSSIAN who is bringing down the country.

Dusty Rhodes joins us, and he’s still the National champion, and Baby Doll has no equal as a lady. Also he’s got his Risky Business glasses and he’s feeling good.

World TV title: Arn Anderson v. Tony Zane

Arn continues his breakneck pace of defending the title against top talent, I see. Zane tries to work the arm to start, but Arn takes him down with a wristlock and goes to an armbar while the crowd won’t shut up about Dusty. That’s very rude and distracting to the champion. Regardless, he endures and finishes with the gourdbuster at 3:15. In Bob’s opinion, Dusty deserves a shot at the TV title, despite already being National champion, which again brings up the question about where each of the singles titles in Crockett sat as compared to one another. The World title was obviously the main belt, with the US title as the secondary one, but how did you slot in the TV title, National title and Mid-Atlantic title after that?

Ric Flair & Arn Anderson join us, and Arn promises that Dusty’s leg is on the line every night. Also Ric Flair and AA are teaming up in the Crockett Cup, which is a plan that certainly changed later on.

Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin v. George South

This is Jimmy’s JCP debut after a very successful World Class run. Garvin attacks at the bell and gets a backdrop before finishing with the brainbuster at 0:30. Garvin immediately looked like a huge star here.

Meanwhile, Sam Houston, still the Mid-Atlantic champion by the way, is tired of Black Bart talking that smack about him. Also he’s entering the Crockett Cup with either Nelson Royal or Jimmy Valiant, he’s not sure yet. So then Jimmy interjects and hijacks the interview with his shenanigans again.

Jim Cornette has heard that Ricky Morton’s hand isn’t healing properly and they might have to re-break it to fix it, so he offers to have the Midnights do the job for him and save the doctor bill.

Leo Burke v. Mark Fleming

Burke was a longtime Stampede guy and I didn’t know he worked that much for Crockett. Burke overpowers the jobber and gets an abdominal stretch after a powerslam, but Fleming makes a comeback with backslide and rollup for two. But then Burke hits him with a high knee and drops a knee on him to finish at 3:00. Very energetic squash but Burke couldn’t have been around for long.

Jimmy Garvin joins us and he’s heard all about the legendary Wahoo McDaniel, but he’s nowhere to be found! Probably down on a beach somewhere getting even more fat.

Thunderfoot v. Mike Simiani

Thunderfoot, he of the loaded boot, hits Siminai with a butterfly suplex and then goes to a chinlock. Suplex and he goes back to the chinlock, but he misses a blind charge and then recovers with a back elbow before Simiani can mount a comeback. Shoulderbreaker finishes at 2:23.

Ric Flair joins us and he looks out at all the Ricky Morton teeny-boppers with their training bras, and he wonders what they think when they see Precious and her “bodacious ta-tas”. Also he’s got this big new gold belt, apparently worth $40,000, and that makes him #1.

Tully Blanchard v. The Italian Stallion

Tully runs away and struts for a while, and then comes back in with an armdrag, but Stallion gets his own and Tully runs away again. Back in, Stallion gets a backdrop, but he misses an elbow and Tully puts him away with the slingshot suplex at 2:44.

Pistol Pez Whatley and Sam Houston join us and Pez sounds like he’s been popping more than Pez backstage. Take it down a notch, there.

The Midnight Express v. Rocky King & Pistol Pez Whatley

Rocky gets some shine on Condrey and Whatley dropkicks him to the floor, and then they double-team Eaton in the corner. But then Condrey cuts off Rocky with an STO and backbreaker. Eaton with a suplex, but Rocky brings Pez back in, and Eaton quickly cuts him off as well. Back to Rocky with a back elbow on Eaton, but Bobby goes up with the flying knee and Dennis finishes with a SKULL CRUSHING FINALE at 4:50. Match had insane heat thanks to the RNR doing commentary at the desk.

A very fun hour of Crockett action from the golden age.
