WWE To Issue Apology Over Becky Lynch’s Ozzy Osbourne Comments On Raw
By Conor Renshaw on 26 August 2025
It has been reported that WWE is considering issuing a public apology over the comments Becky Lynch made about the late Ozzy Osbourne on Monday’s episode of Raw.
On Monday, Raw took place in Birmingham, England, the birthplace of the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, and during a segment where WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella challenged Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lynch to a match for her title at Clash in Paris, Lynch took shots at the late “Prince of Darkness” and the city of Birmingham.
Lynch said during her promo that “the only good thing that came out of here [Birmingham] died a month ago”, referring to Ozzy’s death on July 22, and she then said that “in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
Whilst some fans thought these comments were more of a put-down to Birmingham than to Ozzy, something heel wrestlers have done for many years to garner heat with local crowds, Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, took offence to these comments, stating on social media that Lynch was being a “disrespectful dirtbag” and called out WWE writing “shame on WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home.”
What Is WWE Going To Do About Becky Lynch’s Comments?
Bryan Alvarez spoke on Wrestling Observer Live about the whole Becky Lynch/Ozzy Osbourne situation and said that WWE is embarrassed by it and will likely issue a private apology to Kelly Osbourne and may even make a public apology. Alvarez also said that he doesn’t think that Lynch came up with the line, as most WWE promos are scripted by the writing team.
What do you think about the whole Becky Lynch/Ozzy Osbourne Raw promo issue? Do you think it was disrespectful and that she and WWE should apologise? Or was it just simply a case of a wrestler trying to garner heat from the local crowd?
