Update On When Jacob Fatu Is Expected To Return To WWE From Injury

An update has been provided on the return timeline for Jacob Fatu’s return to WWE following his being written off TV on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

After it was previously reported that Jacob Fatu could be out for at least the rest of the year due to injury, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has since reported that Fatu could be back in action for Survivor Series, which takes place on November 29 at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

On Friday, Jacob Fatu was supposed to face Drew McIntyre in a match to determine the number one contender to Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Title. However, when Fatu’s entrance music played, he did not make his entrance; instead, the show cut to the backstage area where Fatu was seen pinned underneath a steel truss with blood around his mouth and what appeared to be teeth could be seen on the floor also.

When McIntyre came to the ring, he seemed happy at what had happened to Fatu, but denied any involvement in the incident. Rhodes then came down to the ring, and he and McIntyre had an exchange of words that resulted in the pair having an impromptu match right then and there. The match was short-lived as Rhodes hit McIntyre with his title belt to end the match via disqualification in just under five minutes.

Why Is Jacob Fatu Out Injured?

Jacob Fatu hasn’t competed in a match since September, when he faced Rusev in a dark match on SmackDown, and hasn’t competed in a TV match since August 15. The reason for his absence has not been disclosed by WWE, but a report from PWInsider said that a dental issue is preventing Fatu from being cleared. This probably explains why, in the injury angle on SmackDown, blood was around his mouth, and teeth could be seen on the floor.
