The Hardy Boyz Capture WWE NXT Tag Team Championship
By Conor Renshaw on 7 October 2025
TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz captured the NXT Tag Team Title last night on NXT.
Matt and Jeff Hardy wrestled DarkState’s Osiris Griffin and Dion Lennox in the opening bout of NXT last night in a title vs. title tag team match, where the Hardys’ TNA Tag Team Titles were on the line against Griffin and Lennox’s NXT Tag Team Titles. The closing sequence of the match saw Matt hit a twist of fate onto both Griffin and Lennox before Jeff went to the top rope and hit a swanton bomb onto Lennox to get the three-count and win the titles.
Prior to the match beginning, other DarkState members, Saquon Shugars and Cutler James, attempted to interfere, but were ejected from the match by the referee. Following The Hardy Boyz’ win, they had a staredown with The Dudley Boyz, as Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley were both in the crowd at last night’s show. The Hardys are set to face the Dudleys at Bound for Glory on October 12, and the TNA Tag Team Titles were supposed to be on the line; now, both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Titles will be on the line in the match.
When Did The Hardy Boyz Last Win A Title In WWE?
The Hardy Boyz haven’t held a WWE tag team title together in over six years, as they last won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the April 9, 2019, episode of SmackDown, besting The Usos for the belts. Jeff did win a singles title after that, having won the Intercontinental Title on the August 21, 2020, episode of SmackDown by defeating AJ Styles.
What do you think about the Hardys’ NXT Tag Title victory? Do you think it’s a good idea to have TNA talent hold the NXT titles, or do you think having their championships held by non-WWE talent hurts their credibility? And how long do you think the Hardys will hold the belts until they drop them?
