New AEW World Tag Team Champions Crowned At Forbidden Door
By Conor Renshaw on 25 August 2025
Brody King and Bandido have captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Forbidden Door 2025.
In the middle of the card for Forbidden Door 2025 at The O2 in London, England, an AEW World Tag Team Title Three-Way Match took place between former champions The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin), FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) and Brodido (Bandido and Brody King).
In the finish of the match, Lashley hit a spear on King, and then three people dressed in NJPW clothing came out and attacked Lashley and Benjamin. The three people were later revealed to be Ricochet and Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona), and they took Lashley and Benjamin out of the match.
Harwood almost got the win after hitting King with a steel chair, but King and Bandido were shortly after able to hit their tag finisher of a monkey flip into a splash to pick up the three count and the AEW World Tag Team Title.
Who Did AEW Originally Plan To Win The World Tag Team Championship?
It was reported that Hurt Syndicate’s MVP rejected a pitch to have FTR win the tag team titles from Lashley and Benjamin at either All In or Forbidden Door. However, Brodido weren’t MVP’s first choice to win the belts, as he preferred Lashley and Benjamin to drop them to either Gates of Agony, The Outrunners, or Private Party.
What do you think about the decision to have Brodido win the AEW World Tag Team Title? Do you think it should have been FTR that won them? And which match on Forbidden Door was your favourite?
