MJF Praises Tony Khan’s Renewed Focus On AEW

MJF has given Tony Khan credit for getting back “in the weeds” in AEW.

AEW is currently riding a wave of momentum following the success of All In Texas on July 12th. Back in January, it was reported that Tony Khan was more “in the weeds” when it came to the creative direction of the company. Khan confirmed this himself, saying he had taken a more hardline approach to pitches from other people, and was once again writing the majority of the product himself.

Another noticeable change has been that Khan is no longer taking shots at others on social media, instead using his accounts to simply promote AEW’s shows. During an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, MJF said his boss was the “most professional” he’s ever been online.

“I think you’ll notice that Tony’s approach is a whole lot more different, and this is the most professional he’s ever been online. He’s only talking about our company, he’s not throwing potshots.”

Turning to the product itself, Friedman said Khan really was fully focused on AEW.

“And that’s because the truth is, he really is now only focused on our sh*t — fully. This is the most ‘in the weeds’ — as the kids would say — that I’ve ever seen my boss be. And I think right now we have an insane amount of momentum.”

MJF Calls Out “Dumb” Wrestling Tribalism

During the same interview, MJF spoke about tribalistic fans of WWE and AEW, saying he thinks it’s dumb, and fans should just enjoy pro wrestling.

“All Elite Wrestling makes professional wrestling better — point blank. And I think the reason that when a WWE wrestler is getting interviewed they get asked AEW questions, and the reason why when MJF is getting interviewed he’s getting asked WWE questions, is because the fans can’t help but be tribalistic.

“I think it’s dumb, but by all means do with your fandom what you want to do. What I say is, just enjoy professional wrestling. But most importantly, enjoy me — because I’m a generational talent.”
