Kevin Owens Discusses Progress Toward WWE Return Following Neck Fusion Surgery

Kevin Owens has recently spoken about his progress towards making his in-ring return for WWE following the neck fusion surgery he underwent in July.

Speaking with the media following his appearance at a NASCAR race in Daytona, Florida, last weekend, Kevin Owens was asked about his neck fusion surgery that he underwent in July and how he is progressing in his recovery. Owens said that it was a very stressful time before the surgery as his doctors weren’t sure how severe the fusion needed to be and how many of his vertebrae needed to be fused, but thankfully, he only needed one level to be fused.

Owens went on to say that despite the surgery being successful, there’s no guarantee that it will work and that his recovery will tell how well his bones fuse post-surgery and how well his body will heal. Despite this uncertainty, he did say that he was hopeful to be back in a WWE ring in the next year, but that he isn’t sure if he will ever be able to come back.

Owens further said that despite his WWE schedule being less demanding since 2014, he was able to see his family more over the last ten years due to his schedule change, and he is enjoying being home more, but is still missing life on the road.

Prior to his neck fusion surgery, Kevin Owens last competed in a WWE ring on March 1, 2025, in an unsanctioned match at Elimination Chamber in Toronto, Canada, against Sami Zayn, which he won. He was scheduled to face Randy Orton in a match at WrestleMania 41, but was pulled from the show due to requiring surgery and was replaced by Joe Hendry.
