John Cena Set For WWE Title Win Before Retirement

John Cena is reportedly going to win the title that has eluded him for his entire career at Survivor Series.

On December 13th, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena will step in the ring for the final time. Before that, though, the 17-time World Champion could achieve one more goal.

As well as the World Titles, Cena has already held the United States Championship, Tag Team Titles, and has won Money in the Bank and the Royal Rumble. One title that he hasn’t been able to capture, though, is the Intercontinental Championship. Outside of house shows, the star has not even challenged for the iconic title.

John Cena Reportedly To Challenge Dominik Mysterio At WWE Survivor Series: WarGames

The current champion, Dominik Mysterio, is scheduled to defend the gold on the November 1st edition of SNME. The bout will see Rusev and Penta finally get their hands on Mysterio and try to win the title.

However, in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Dirty Dom is the favourite to win the match and retain the championship. He explained that the plan, as of a few weeks ago, was for John Cena to challenge Mysterio at Survivor Series and win the Intercontinental Title for the first time.

This would then set up Cena to defend the title in his retirement match, where it has been widely reported he will face Gunther.
