Dustin Rhodes Recovering From Double Knee Replacement Surgery
By Conor Renshaw on 22 August 2025
Former AEW TNT Champion Dustin Rhodes is in recovery following his double-knee replacement surgery yesterday.
Rhodes posted on social media following his surgery to share photos and videos of himself post-operation. One set of videos showcases Rhodes’ legs in a full tubular bandage as he attempts to move his left leg up and down. Another photo Rhodes shared is of him in a hospital bed, wearing a hair and face covering, having recently come out of his operation.
Rhodes also replied to a fan questioning whether Rhodes would retire following his surgery, to which he replied:
“Hell nah. I am in love with this business. As of right now, I have 2 yrs and 4 months left. AND DAMN GLAD AND PROUD OF @AEW and where I will finally say uncle. Maybe Probability 99.9%. Gotta watch out for that one percent -#IStandFirmWithAEW AND @TonyKhan”
When Will Dustin Rhodes Be Back In The Ring Following His Surgery?
Dustin Rhodes said that he doesn’t know when he will be back in the ring yet, as it is too early to tell how long his recovery will take, given his age, as he is 56 years old now, and with age comes longer recovery times, but he is committed to getting back in the ring as soon as he can.
Rhodes’ injury was attributed to an attack by Kyle Fletcher in AEW’s storyline, as Fletcher stabbed Rhodes in the knee with a screwdriver during their TNT Title match on the July 31 episode of Collision, and following Fletcher’s win, he wrapped Rhodes’ leg around the ring post and hit it multiple times with a steel chair.
Wishing Dustin Rhodes a full and speedy recovery!
So, how long do you think Dustin Rhodes will be out of action for? Do you think that, despite his optimism, he’ll be able to make a return to the ring at 56 following a double knee replacement? And if he does, will he be thrust back into the TNT Title picture?
