Chad Gable Undergoes Surgery, Plus 2 More WWE Stars Out Injured
By Conor Renshaw on 2 July 2025
Another day, another round of WWE injury news, and this time, it’s hitting the tag scene hard.
First up, Chad Gable has gone under the knife. After a storyline injury angle involving Penta snapping his arm on the June 23 episode of Raw, Gable confirmed on Monday that he’d need shoulder surgery, and he’s now had the operation. He posted on Instagram yesterday to share the news, letting fans know the surgery was a success and promising he’ll be back “quicker than you can say GRACIAS!”
Currently, there is no timeline on when Gable will be back in action, but hopefully it’s soon!
Unfortunately, the bad news for WWE just keeps rolling in.
New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) are also reportedly dealing with injuries. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, both men are currently out of action. Their last match took place at the Main Event taping on May 26, which aired a few days later on May 29, and they haven’t been seen in the ring since.
No official details yet on the nature or severity of their injuries, but the timing for the company couldn’t be worse.
Who Else Has Joined Chad Gable, Pete Dunne, And Tyler Bate On The Injury Bench?
As of writing, Gable, Dunne and Bate are joined by Ilja Dragunov, who tore his ACL at a live event back in September 2024. Kiana James is out with an undisclosed leg injury she supposedly picked up in June 2024. Liv Morgan dislocated her shoulder at the beginning of her June 16 Raw match against Iyo Sky. Zoey Stark suffered a knee injury on the May 29 episode of Raw and is going to need surgery.
And that’s just the Raw injuries; there are also 4 names out injured on the blue brand.
Apollo Crews suffered a torn pec back in January and had surgery in February, but there is no news on when he will return. Kevin Owens suffered a neck injury prior to his scheduled bout at WrestleMania 41 and needs surgery. Rey Mysterio tore his groin on the April 18 episode of SmackDown and had an operation to repair his torn adductor. And finally, Tama Tonga picked up an injury in April that could require surgery to fix.
There must be something in the water at WWE, as reports of new injuries seem to be popping up daily, and it begs the question: Is this string of injuries just bad luck, or is there something about the schedule and style causing more stars to get injured?
How do you think all these stars being on the shelf will affect WWE’s plans going forward?
