What the World Was Watching: WWF Prime Time Wrestling – February 17, 1992

By LScisco on 5th June 2023

Vince McMahon moderates tonight’s panel of Gorilla Monsoon, Slick, Bobby Heenan, and Mr. Perfect.  Monsoon does some revisionist history, saying that Sid Justice spent more time eyeing Hulk Hogan in the SummerSlam main event last year instead of serving as the special guest referee.  Heenan contends that Sid did nothing wrong in the Rumble so people need to get off his back.  Slick argues that people lost respect for Sid when he acted like a crybaby after not getting the WrestleMania title shot.  After showing video footage of Sid’s heel turn, Monsoon gives faint praise to Sid for outwitting WWF President Jack Tunney and getting him to change the WrestleMania main event so he could face Hogan.  Perfect concludes the segment by ranting about how he was not consulted by Tunney before rebooking Flair’s WrestleMania title match.

What the World Was Watching: WWF Prime Time Wrestling – February 3, 1992

By LScisco on 22nd May 2023

This show features a new, upbeat rock lead-in song.  Vince McMahon moderates the usual panel of Gorilla Monsoon, Slick, Bobby Heenan, and Mr. Perfect.

A replay of WWF President Jack Tunney’s WrestleMania VIII press conference from Superstars airs.  Afterward, Monsoon chastises Sid Justice for not conducting himself like a gentleman like Hulk Hogan.  Monsoon adds that Sid did well in the Royal Rumble but he does not have the same credentials as Hogan, so it makes sense that Hogan is getting the title shot.  Heenan concedes that Hogan is a big draw and does a lot for charity but Tunney bows to him all the time.  Perfect adds that Sid was right that Hogan cannot beat Ric Flair but disagrees that Sid can beat Flair.  McMahon concludes the segment by saying that the main event for this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event will see Hogan and Sid team up to face Flair and the Undertaker.  Randy Savage will also face Jake Roberts.

By LScisco on 17th May 2023

WWF President Jack Tunney’s WrestleMania VIII press conference leads off the show.  WWF Champion Ric Flair, Mr. Perfect, and Bobby Heenan appear.  Flair tells the media that the five title contenders, who are seated, are great wrestlers but he beat them all in the Royal Rumble.  After Flair leaves, Tunney steps to the microphone and announces that he has chosen Hulk Hogan to face Flair.  This angers Sid, who was rising up with a smile on his face when Tunney turned to him before announcing Hogan’s name.  As Sid tears some papers apart, Hogan does a generic promo about how Hulkamania will run wild on Flair at WrestleMania.

Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect are on commentary, broadcasting another episode from Daytona Beach, Florida.  Perfect is happy that Tunney chose Hogan because that is who Flair wanted to face.
