Mike Reviews Wrestling Empire (Nintendo Switch)

By Michael Fitzgerald on 11th March 2024

Good Morning Everyone!

It’s Tuesday Morning, it’s early in the morning, so let’s do another of our fortnightly wrestling Video Games reviews/articles. This time out we’re looking at Wrestling Empire, a game I originally reviewed for Gaming Respawn. You can check my archives for GR if you’d like to read me discuss more of them there Video Games, and you can also view my archives here on the Blog as well.

Mike Reviews Wrestlemania XIX (GameCube)

By Michael Fitzgerald on 12th February 2024

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Welcome back to another one of our fortnightly wrestling Video Game reviews, as we take a look at Wrestlemania XIX for the Nintendo GameCube. Wrestlemania XIX is a game I’ve always had fun playing, and if you let the computer sim matches then it can get crazy what with all the finisher spam you can find in the game.

If you would like to see more of my Video Game musings, then you can check my archives here on the Blog or you can visit Gaming Respawn where I also write.

Mike Reviews WWE WrestleMania X-8 (GameCube)

By Michael Fitzgerald on 29th January 2024

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back again with another Tuesday Morning Video Game review, as we take a look at WWE WrestleMania X-8 for the Nintendo GameCube, a game that I have played a fair amount over the past couple of decades, especially as one of my best mates had a GameCube and we’d regularly get together to play this one. I remember us spending hours trying to give someone a 3-D through a table as The Dudley Boyz because the back of the box suggested that you could do that, and we eventually managed it!

If you’d like to peruse some more Video Game musings, then you can check my archives here on the Blog or you can view my list of articles over at Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews WCW Mayhem

By Michael Fitzgerald on 15th January 2024

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back again with another of our fortnightly Video Game reviews, as we take a look at WCW Mayhem. You could play Mayhem on both the PSX and N64, and there were some differences between the two so if you love the N64 version and aren’t entirely happy with the review score here, then it could possibly be because I’ve always played the PSX version.

If you would like some more Video Game discussion then feel free to check out my archives here on the Blog or over at Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews WWE WrestleMania 21 (Xbox)

By Michael Fitzgerald on 1st January 2024

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back again with another in our fortnightly Video Game reviews here on a Tuesday Morning, as we take a look at WrestleMania 21 for the original Xbox. The original Xbox isn’t my favourite console of all-time, but in general I quite like it and I’ve had some good fun with it. It never really excelled when it came to wrestling games though, which I think this review of WrestleMania 21 will explore.

You can read more Video Game stuff by checking my archives here on the Blog and also heading over to Gaming Respawn where I also write about them there Video Games.

Mike Reviews WWF In Your House

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back for another fortnightly early Tuesday Morning Video Game review, as we take a look at WWF In Your House for the SEGA Saturn. If you like this, then there are even more video game reviews in my archives and you can also take a look over at Gaming Respawn for more of my Video Game output.

Mike Reviews WWF Super WrestleMania

By Michael Fitzgerald on 4th December 2023

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back with another Tuesday Morning Video Game review, this time looking at WWF Super WrestleMania for both the Super Nintendo and the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis. As I was a SNES owner growing up, it was the SNES version of Super WrestleMania that I played, but I have had experience playing on the Mega Drive version as well, so we’ll talk about both of them here.

You can find more Video Game stuff from me over at Gaming Respawn

Mike Reviews WWF WrestleFest

By Michael Fitzgerald on 6th November 2023

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I’m just trying out the early Tuesday morning slot for this one to see if it generates any interest. There’s not usually much else getting posted at this time so I don’t think I’m stepping on too many toes, and it gives the night owls on here something to read at least. If this goes down well I might throw one of these out once in a while. This morning we’ll be looking at one of my favourite arcade games in the form of WWF WrestleFest! Released by Technōs Japan in 1991, WWF WrestleFest recreates the colourful and over the top feel of the WWF product of the late 80’s and early 90’s, with big cartoon like sprites for the wrestlers and loud pumping music that really gets your amped up for a right good wrestle. It’s wacky over the top fun and the perfect sort of game to blow a few coins on whilst at the arcade.

WrestleFest was actually a sequel for Technōs Japan’s previous WWF release from 1989 named “WWF Superstars”. WrestleFest actually improves on Superstars though by having bigger sprites for the wrestlers, a larger roster of wrestlers to choose from, more attractive and detailed arenas and also more punishing moves for your wrestler to deliver. WWF Superstars is a decent enough game, but WrestleFest was a notable step up, as Technōs clearly learned from what worked in the previous game and decided to turn it up to 11.

Mike Reviews WCW Nitro

By Michael Fitzgerald on 25th October 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I’ve either reviewed good games or interesting ones with ideas that didn’t quite land in the past month or so, so I think it’s time I review an utter dog of a one. Enter WCW Nitro for the PlayStation (and later the N64), a thoroughly cack game that I’ll now complain about for a bit. Hope that’s okay with everyone. If you’d like to read more stuff like this then feel free to check out Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews WCW Vs The World

By Michael Fitzgerald on 18th October 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We’ve spent the last month looking at the THQ/AKI games for the N64, but there was also a game for the PS1 that was kind of like those ones, so we’ll complete the set and review WCW Vs The World today. If you’d like more Video Game discussion, including non-Wrestling related ones, then feel free to head on over to Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews WWF No Mercy

By Michael Fitzgerald on 11th October 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We finish up our reviews of the THQ/AKI games for the N64, by taking a look at WWF No Mercy. I’m actually preparing this review before getting to play AEW Fight Forever, but by now we’ll probably know whether AEW’s offering is the spiritual successor for No Mercy that it was seemingly trying to be. I hope you all enjoy this review anyway, I clearly had fun writing it back in the day. If you’d like to read more stuff like this then you can do so over at Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews WWF WrestleMania 2000

By Michael Fitzgerald on 4th October 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We continue our trip back to look at the THQ/AKI wrestling games for the N64 by looking at WrestleMania 2000. You can find other articles like this over on Gaming Respawn. This one might be a tad controversial as I might not love this one quite as much as other’s do, but I’ll do my best to explain why in the review itself.

Mike Reviews WCW/nWo Revenge

By Michael Fitzgerald on 27th September 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Back with another Video Game review, as we build on the review of WCW Vs nWo World Tour last week by taking a look at the games sequel. A one line review for WCW/nWo Revenge would mostly be, “It’s the first game but better”, but I go into a bit more detail below. I also go on a bit of a rant about WCW itself at one stage, as you do I guess. You can find more stuff like this over at Gaming Respawn if you like it when I witter about Video Games.

Mike Reviews WCW vs nWo: World Tour

By Michael Fitzgerald on 20th September 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I hope you’re enjoying these Video Game reviews. More can be found over at Gaming Respawn, as well as articles on non-wrestling games as well. This week we’ll have a look at WCW vs nWo: World Tour. I’ve actually written a bit more on top of what was originally there for this one, as I thought the original version ended quite abruptly without me talking much about the single player experience, so you get the directors cut this week I guess!

Mike Reviews WCW Wrestling

By Michael Fitzgerald on 13th September 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We’ve got another wrestling game review this week, as we take a look at WCW Wrestling for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I’m not sure how some will feel about this review, as nostalgia can be a powerful thing. If you enjoy reading this, then I’ve also written about non-wrestling related Video Game stuff over at Gaming Respawn and you can take a look at that by skimming my archives.

Mike Reviews UFC: Throwdown (Nintendo GameCube version)

By Michael Fitzgerald on 6th September 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Like Pit-Fighter last week, UFC: Throwdown is not a wrestling game. However, Scott has reviewed UFC tapes on here before and I know some of you enjoy watching it, so I think a review of a UFC game is fair game right? As always, if you enjoy these then you can find more Video Game musings from yours truly over in my archives at Gaming Respawn.

Mike Reviews Pit-Fighter

By Michael Fitzgerald on 30th August 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Pit-Fighter technically isn’t a wrestling game, but it does feature a wrestler as a playable character and you can technically kind of grapple opponents somewhat, so I’ll make an exception for it. If you think this is a show of bad faith on my part then feel free to say so in the comments section and consider me duly chastened. If you do enjoy reading these things then feel free to take a look at my archives over on Gaming Respawn, where I write about other genres of games on top of ones about wrestling.

Mike Reviews Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium

By Michael Fitzgerald on 16th August 2023

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Back with another wrestling game review this week, as we take a look at Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium for the Super Nintendo. This was another article I originally posted to the Gaming Respawn website (and I hope to be contributing more regularly to that site again someday, but I just have less time for playing games than I’d like at the moment).
