Collision Review – 06.27.26

By Niz on 28 June 2026

You can catch up on Dynamite right here.

Tonight’s Collision was recorded after Dynamite went off the air on June 24th, 2026. It comes to the TNT and HBO Max airwaves from The Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, NM. The announcing team for tonight’s show are Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Nigel McGuinness on match calls and analysis, Arkady Aura on ring introductions, and Lexy Nair on interviews and breaking news. It’s the go-home show for tomorrow’s big Forbidden Door card, so let’s watch some wrestling!

Darby met up with Murder Grampa once. It was pretty fun.

AEW World Trios Championship: The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly) (C) vs The Opps (HOOK, Anthony Bowens, and Katsuyori Shibata)

Shibata starts with Strong and Shibata gives a clean break after pushing Strong back into the babyface corner. O’Reilly tags in as does HOOK who delivers an immediate kick to O’Reilly’s midsection. HOOK drops O’Reilly and slaps on a guillotine and there’s a series of reversals until Strong tags back in for a backbreaker on HOOK. O’Reilly and Strong work over HOOK in their corner and Cassidy tags in to drop a massive mat-based elbow. Cassidy’s cover gets one. HOOK fires up with a gutwrench suplex and tags in Bowens. Bowens drops Cassidy with a Saito suplex and puts the stink-mouth on Cassidy. Cassidy’s hands go into his pockets and Bowens yanks them out because he wants Cassidy to clap for him. Cassidy hits a dropkick and Bowens decides to tag in Shibata. Cassidy fires of a series of devastating chops and then goes behind for a roll up that gets two. Shibata fires off a chop and then plants Cassidy with a suplex on the apron and one on the floor. Shibata fires Cassidy back in and HOOK covers for two. We go to commercials.

Shibata has Cassidy in a rear choke but Strong flies in to smack Shibata and break that up. Shibata snap mares Cassidy over and then smashes Strong with a high boot on the apron. Cassidy snaps off a Stundog Millionaire and O:Reilly and Bowens get tags. O’Reilly hits a bunch of offense on Bowens who fires up with a flurry of his own. Bowens lands weirdly on a leapfrog and O’Reilly immediately slaps on an ankle lock. HOOK flies in to break that up but O’Reilly dumps him with a back suplex. Bowens hits a discus elbow and O’Reilly flies back off the ropes to lariat both HOOK and Bowens. Strong and Shibata get tags and they slug it out mid-ring. Shibata wins the skirmish and Cassidy trips him up on a rope run attempt. O’Reilly hits a backbreaker on Shibata and Strong hits on one on a charging HOOK. Strong yanks up Cassidy to use him as a weapon but Shibata flies out of the corner with a Superman punch that drops Cassidy. Bowens tags in and runs into a Strong high boot but Shibata drops Strong with an implant driver. O’Reilly sneaks back in and he slugs it out with Shibata. O’Reilly lifts a knee and then starts smashing a charging HOOK around. HOOK hits a T-Bone suplex and Cassidy flies in with a DDT on HOOK. Bowens flies in to take out all three faces and that ends with him planting Cassidy with a rolling DDT that gets two. Shibata casually wanders in and yanks up Cassidy, but Cassidy ducks and Bowens superkick hits Shibata dead in the jaw. Bowens tries to roll up Cassidy but O’Reilly flies in with a boot to Bowens jaw. Cassidy hits the Orange Punch on Bowens and Strong dumps him with a half-and-half suplex. Cassidy covers Bowens and that ends things.

So the story coming out of this will be Bowens costing his team by nailing Shibata with the superkick and eventually costing the Opps the match. I would assume this will boil for about four months before Bowens gets turfed out, Joe takes him out with a Coquina Clutch, and we never hear about this again. Regardless, this never felt in doubt and the Conglom team worked at a pretty even pace that suggested they weren’t going all out for this one effort-wise. There was nothing technically wrong with this, it’s just a burnt-out crowd and no build-up for this meant there was very little heat. 2.75*

Winners AND STILL AEW World Trios Champions – The Conglomeration (Cassidy covers Bowens after O’Reilly half-and-half suplex)

Here’s The Demand and Ricochet mentions their quest for gold. Here’s The Lethal Twist interrupting and Jay Lethal apologizes for barging into the scene. Ricochet says he likes Lethal’s style and haircut, and Lethal mentions liking Ricochet’s haircut. They leave for a chat while the team members eye each other up warily. We go to commercials.

The Death Riders are in a backstage area and AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley seems upset while mentioning that Swerve Strickland has made himself a target. Moxley vows that “Will” will pull the trigger on Swerve without remorse, and Will Ospreay says that the message has been received loud and clear. Ospreay promises the Most Dangerous Man is about to discover just how dangerous Ospreay can be.

AEW TNT Championship: Kevin Knight (C) vs Dezmond Xavier

Knight is out alone. Knight works a side headlock and Xavier finally breaks out of it. Xavier grabs a roll up for two and then works La Magistral for two. Knight grabs a roll up with his feet on the ropes for two as Rick Knox does one thing right for the first time in his career. Xavier hits a kick from the apron and then mashes Knight with a rana that sends Knight to the floor. Knight wanders away before Xavier can hit a tope and then dares Knight to come back into the ring. Knight pulls Xavier to the floor and rams him into the apron before tossing him over the steps to mash him with a flying lariat. We go to commercials.

Knight gets caught by a Xavier armdrag and a flurry of rights before Xavier snaps off a cutter. Xavier hits a running uppercut and a thrust kick before dropping Knight with an enziguri. Xavier hits a DDT and covers Knight for two. Xavier misses a charge and Knight snaps off a rana and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Knight covers and gets two. Knight ascends and Xavier rolls away, so Knight jumps down and immediately gets caught by a Xavier double boot. Knight shakes it off for a springboard but Xavier grabs a couple of roll ups for two. Knight waffles a charging Xavier with a dropkick but Xavier fires off a rana in response. They slug it out and Knight pounds Xavier down with some forearms. Xavier responds with a big right forearm of his own. Xavier hits a slingblade bulldog and a Meteora that gets two. Knight bails to the floor and Xavier wallops him with a tope suicida. Xavier yanks up Knight and dumps him back in before ascending. Xavier meets Knight’s knees and Knight snaps off a dropkick and a Crash Landing. Knight covers and gets three.

Another match with no build that was aesthetically fine but had almost no heat. Xavier isn’t the kind of babyface to get a crowd going either, so it really just felt like an athletic exhibition rather than a fight. 2.5*

Winner AND STILL AEW TNT Champion – Kevin Knight (Crash Landing)

Here’s a video on the construction of the steel cage that will be used in the twelve man tag at Forbidden Door. Sparks are flying!

The Triangle of Madness are out and AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla has a microphone. Thekla says everyone is saying she’s the only one making Forbidden Door feel like Forbidden Door (She’s right.) Thekla says the cooperation makes her sick and if she wants to fly to Japan to attack the President of Stardom, she’ll do it. Thekla will light the Forbidden Door on fire. Skye Blue will face Maika from Stardom on the pre-show in a TBS qualifier and she can’t wait to beat her up. Thekla points out all the companies on the list for Forbidden Door and promises to burn the whole thing down. Thekla tells all the DUMB BITCHES she’ll see them on Sunday. We go to commercials.

J.D. Drake vs Chris Jericho

There’s some verbals and Jericho slaps Drake before chopping away. Jericho eats a back elbow but he manages to ascend and drop a bunch of right hands on Drake’s dome. Jericho hits a rana and an enziguri that sends Drake to the floor. Jericho ascends and hits a cross-body on Drake. Jericho rams Drake’s head into the ring steps and tosses the big man back in. Jericho hits a running boot to Drake’s ribs and pounds away with rights. Jericho walks into a Drake sidewalk slam that gets two. Drake hits some chops and splashes Jericho in a corner. Jericho slumps down and Drake hits a cannonball before ascending. Drake misses a moonsault and Jericho fires off some chops of his own. They slug it out and Jericho grabs a roll up for two. Jericho hits a Codebreaker and mashes Drake with a Ciampa-like running knee. Jericho slaps on the Walls and Drake taps immediately.

Listen, I know Jericho is a favorite of many people and I get why, but I’m not sure this current run is doing his career legacy any favors. People like singing along with Judas and Jericho can still do some things but it’s just kind of sad now, honestly. This was okay for what it was but let’s just say you won’t see it ever again on anything other than youtube in a highlights package. 1.5*

Winner – Chris Jericho (Walls of Jericho)

Post-match sees Jericho call Schiavone into the ring before grabbing Drake’s leg. Jericho puts the Walls back on and tells Schiavone to tell Ciampa he’s better than him, which Schiavone does. Jericho lets Drake go and gets a very poor Y2J chant before telling Ciampa he’s looking for him. Jericho just wants to see Ciampa face to face to thank him for the beating he gave Jericho. Jericho tells Ciampa he’ll see him at Beach Break.

Lexy Nair is with AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion and Thunder Rosa with a “no physicality” clause apparently in place. (This should be a welcome development for Rosa who looks TINY compared to Kross and Bayne.) Rosa promises she’s not afraid of the Dominion, but Kross doesn’t care because the only thing that matters is what happens in the ring. Kross makes fun of Rosa’s facepaint and points out that her and Olimpia keep their faces hidden for a reason. Rosa wants to fight and takes off her shirt, so Bayne and Kross just giggle and walk away.

CMLL World Women’s Championship: Persephone (C) vs Billie Starkz

Persephone is in Survival of the Fittest during this upcoming week’s Dynamite. Tony Khan makes an appearance to do the traditional photo prior to the match starting. Starkz hits an armdrag and does some jumping jacks before Persephone snaps off a rana in response. Persephone hits a shotgun dropkick and does some jumping jacks in response. Persephone catches a Starkz cross-body attempt and nails her with a fall-away slam. Starkz drops Persephone over the second rope and then DDT’s Persephone on the apron. Starkz clears the announce table off and then leaps on it to hit a senton on Persephone. We go to commercials.

Persephone fights her way out of a double arm lock by driving a knee into Starkz mid-section. Persephone hits a double-arm suplex and lariat before planting Starkz with an elbow. Persephone hits a reverse thrust and covers Starkz for two. Starkz starts firing back elbows and mashes Persephone with a kick. Persephone pulls Starkz into a backslide that gets two. Starkz ascends and there’s someone in the crowd screeching every two seconds that’s driving me insane. Starkz hits a neckbreaker and we reset. Starkz fires off some chest kicks but Persephone catches her with a Northern Lights suplex and covers Starkz for two. Starkz ascends and misses her senton attempt. Persephone hits a spear and then yanks Starkz up for a Razor’s Edge that finishes things.

This just in, Billie Starkz is still pretty bad. Persephone is decent enough but this was her trying to drag something out of Starkz and sort of getting there. 1.25*

Winner AND STILL CMLL World Women’s Champion – Persephone (Razor’s Edge)

Post-match sees Hikaru Shida fly in to attack Persephone with a kendo stick. Shida yanks Persephone into a submission hold before Kris Statlander charges out to break it up with Queen Aminata and Harley Cameron in tow. Everyone eyes each other up and Shida retreats. We go to commercials.

Mistico and Speedball Mike Bailey vs The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari)

Bailey starts with Nese and Bailey drops Nese with a chest kick. The Athletes gain the advantage and pound away on Bailey in their corner. Mistico flies in to help and he and Bailey snap off ranas that send the Athletes to the floor. Bailey and Mistico slide out and Daivari spikes Bailey with a DDT. Daivari tosses Bailey back in and covers him for two. Bailey fights off the Athletes for a minute but they snatch him up for a double facebreaker that gets two as Mistico breaks things up. Mistico hits a double back elbow and drops both Athletes with a springboard top rope rana/bulldog combo. Bailey and Mistico hit double tope suicidas and Bailey runs Daivari back in. Mistico tags in and gets dropped to the floor by Nese. Bailey misses a kick and Daivari crushes him with a hammerlock lariat. Bailey dumps Nese and sends Daivari down with a leg sweep. Mistico crushes Nese with a cross body and La Mistica finishes things as Nese taps immediately.

I had forgotten that Bailey and Mistico were part of the trios champions for a minute with Kevin Knight. I like them as a team but I know that Mistico and Dorada are actual partners and just won the ROH tag titles since apparently poor Mortos is having visa issues. There was nothing functionally wrong with this and Mistico got a pop for the win but there’s just heat or stories with any of these matches and the fans only engage for entrances right now. 2.5*

Winners – Mistico/Bailey (La Mistica on Nese)

Here’s a look at Gabe Kidd who’s on his way back. Kidd is wearing a Death Riders hoodie and yammers on about Forbidden Door while threatening Shota Umino.

Jake Doyle vs Adam Priest

Don Callis is out with Doyle for this MASSIVE CONTEST. Callis doesn’t join commentary for some reason as Doyle heaves Priest around. Priest does some push ups before Doyle yanks him up for a toss across the ring. Doyle drives in a shoulder and then tosses Priest again. Doyle bashes Priest and then slams him to the mat after a short Priest fluury. Doyle runs into a Priest dropkick but Doyle just bodies Priest down as we go to commercials.

Priest blocks a punch before Doyle dumps him to the apron. Priest ascends for a flying DDT and works Doyle’s elbow. Priest fires off a right hand but Doyle stands on his boot in response. Doyle fires an elbow that drops Priest. Priest grabs an armbar but Doyle rotates over and yanks up Priest for a one-armed powerbomb. Doyle misses a charge and Priest hits a German and a DDT before covering and getting two. Priest ascends and jumps right into a right cross from Doyle. Priest collapses and fakes Doyle into a roll up that gets two. Doyle ends things with a Bossman Slam.

What do you want me to say here? It’s Jake Doyle and Adam Priest. 2*

Winner – Jake Doyle (Bossman Slam)

Here’s a look at the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament final. Mercedes Mone calls herself a global icon and says her poster has been on World’s wall since she was ten years old. Maya World calls herself the It Girl and says the title is coming home with her. We go to commercials.

Here’s a look at Willow Nightingale working through rehab to return to the ring.

Hyan and Maya World vs ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and Mercedes Mone

There’s fifteen minutes of show left here, so buckle up. A hockey fight breaks out at the bell and Athena gets dropped onto World’s knees by Hyan. Hyan and World hit a conveyor belt series on Mone and Athena and both end up on the floor. Hyan and World hit stereo topes and World eyes up the Owen cup and belt. Mone and Athena get run back into the ring and World goes head to head with Athena. World hits a rana and a leg lariat before mashing her with a 619. Mone grabs World’s hair to yank her down and cut off the momentum and Athena takes advantage. Mone gets a tag and her and Athena smash World around on the floor. Mone runs World back in and puts the boots to her. Athena tags in and she and Mone drop World with a double back suplex. Athena covers and gets two. Athena clubbers away on the apron and yanks World back in for a knee lift. Mone tags in and snap mares World over for a rear chinlock. World breaks out of it but walks right into a Mone dropkick that gets two. Mone and Athena try another back suplex but World slips it and tags in Hyan. Hyan runs wild for a minute and drops Mone with a side suplex that gets two. Mone hits a high boot and Athena gets a blind tag. Athena dumps Hyan on the apron with a one arm powerbomb, and Mone crushes a charging World with a knee. We go to commercials.

Mone hits a Backstabber on Hyan and gets two when the show returns. Mone slaps Hyan around and Athena comes in for double sledges. Athena hits a senton and covers Hyan for two. Mone comes in and hits the Three Amigos but Hyan rolls her up for two on the third attempt. Mone misses a charge and Hyan kicks Mone away to tag in World. World smashes Athena around and nips up to a big pop. World hits a double stomp and covers Athena for two. World pulls Athena into place and ascends but Mone flies down the apron and Athena uses the distraction to sweep World’s leg. Athena and Mone hit a Lungblower/Backstabber combo and Mone covers World for two as Hyan spears Athena on top of the pile to break things up. Mone and World slug it out and Mone eats a back elbow. Athena gets a blind tag and World snaps off a cutter on Mone. Athena hits a wheelbarrow suplex but runs right into a Hyan lofted knee. Everyone is down and World manages to tag in Hyan. Mone dumps World to the floor and Athena and Hyan exchange roll ups for two. Athena hits the O-Face on Hyan and that finishes things.

The finish kind of came out of nowhere but this keeps the heat on for World’s underdog attempt to win the Owen at Forbidden Door. This was the best match on the show by a country mile and that was not a high bar to clear tonight. 3.5*

Winners – Mone/Athena (O-Face on Hyan)

Post-match sees Mone eat a thrust kick from World after holding Hyan in the Statement Maker for awile. World hits a moonsault on Mone before going back to check on Hyan. Mone and World bark at each other as the credits roll. Schiavone hypes up Forbidden Door and we’re out.

A taped episode with a burnt out crowd and a bunch of wildly predictable matches. Yeah, you can skip this one and move on to Forbidden Door tomorrow flush in the knowledge that this review was enough to get you through.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Enjoy Forbidden Door!
