Evening Daily News Update – May 16, 2026

Good evening, Doomsters! Some would say Saturday night is alright for fighting. If you plan on fighting, please fight responsibly. I imagine most of you will be watching former WrestleMania main eventer Ronda Rousey battling former Star Wars actress Gina Carano fight on Netflix. In their MMA careers, Rousey is 12-2 (last competing in 2016) while Carano is 7-1 (last competing in 2009).

AEW presents Collision at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max. AEW World Champion Darby Allin is defending his gold again, this time against Sammy Guevara. TBS Champion Willow Nightingale defends her title against ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet. We will also see a Trios Champion eliminator match AND a Women’s World Tag Team Title eliminator match.

WWE presents Lucha Libre AAA at 10 p.m. ET on YouTube. The Creed Brothers will be battling Aerostar and El Fiscal, though one wonders if Bruto and Julio might take the place of Brutus and Julius. Niz will have reviews of both shows up when he’s able to do it.

Speaking of the great Niz, he reviewed last night’s SmackDown featuring big Gunther against Royce Keys.

Mercedes, Koska Reeves of “The Mandalorian” fame, attended the premiere of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” as did other wrestlers Raquel Rodriguez, Matt Cardona, Chelsea Green, Johnny Gargano, and Candice LeRae.
