TNA Impact Review – April 9, 2026
By Scott Herrin on 10 April 2026
Hang on, everybody, we’re going home to Rebellion but have one last chance to get some fresh beignets and to glimpse one more episode in New Orleans at the Alario Center. As always, Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt describe the action, Gia Miller handles the shenanigans backstage and McKenzie Mitchell let’s us know who is who. New Orleans is the birthplace of poker, so ante up because we’re going all in with some Impactful Discourse. Shall we? We shall.
We start right away with Daria Rae and Santino Marella in the ring with a table as Hannifan and Rehwoldt officially introduce themselves and announce we are having a contract signing for the TNA World Heavyweight title. Marella gets the crowd amped but Rae says we are going to do this in a calm, businesslike manner. Rae first introduces the challenger – Eddie Edwards.
Edwards entered first to a loud round of boos. He entered the ring and nonverbally threatened Marella. Marella started to introduce Mike Santana but Rae commandeered the mic and finished the intro for the TNA World Heavyweight champion. Santana entered through the crowd to a thunderous ovation. Hannifan and Rehwoldt went over the things Edwards said about Santana not being able to keep his emotions in check as a loud “Santana” chant emerged.
They both got in the ring. Edwards started first and asked Santana to calm down and said their paths are quite similar – they both entered as tag team wrestlers and scrapped their way to the top and became champs two times. When things were tough, Santana left and Edwards stayed and carried the company on its back, even when the company was laughed.
Edwards continued and said Santana left for greener pastures but realized the pastures aren’t always that green in the Inner Circle (that got a reaction from the crowd.) Edwards went over his resume in TNA and will become a three-time World Champion. With that, he signed the contract as another loud “Santana” chant emerged.
Santana took off his glasses so Edwards could look into his eyes and see the truth, according to the champ. Santana said Edwards was right that Eddie stayed and Santana left to face the top talent all over the world. He left so he could find out who Mike Santana truly is. No matter where he went, his heart was in TNA. He built and rebuilt himself. Santana left and came back. Edwards stayed because he was complacent. Santana came back to prove himself. Santana turned down more money Edwards would ever see and turned down opportunities Edwards could only dream. He came back to be the standard and the face of TNA.
Edwards calls himself the “Foundation” but when Santana returned two years ago; he took a sledgehammer and cracked the foundation in half and rebuilt it himself. At Rebellion, when the dust settles, Edwards will realize he lost to someone who bet on himself every night. Someone who does this for something greater than himself – the fans, his family and the locker room. Santana signed the contract.
However, Edwards continued. He said the fans won’t be in the ring with him and neither will his family or his daughter. Santana cut him off and said if he ever mentions his daughter again, he will drop his glutes right where he stands. Santana said he wasn’t done. If Edwards wanted to talk about family, Santana reminded him that his wife left him and has bigger testicles for doing that and staying with Moose.
That was enough for Edwards as the two jawed at each other and threatened each other. However, Cedric Alexander (of the System) ran into the ring and attacked Santana with Edwards taunting him. This brought out Leon Slater who slid under Edwards and hit a superkick and then assaulted Alexander. Slater and Santana took turns beating on Alexander and threw him over the top rope. Santana overturned the table as Rae and Marella beat a retreat to the corner. However, Slater wasn’t done as he leapt over the turnbuckles and landed on Alexander and Edwards. The two celebrated in the ring as the System headed up the rampway.
We go to break but first we get the announcement that we have Knockouts action next. We also get highlights of a Rebellion 2024 match between Sami Callihan and Trey Miguel. Callihan hit a piledriver from the second turnbuckle to a table but (cue the Botchamania moment) I am the Table. Callihan set up the ring steps and grabbed another table from under the ring. Hannifan stood on the up turned steps and threatened a piledriver before we go back to 2026 and….
A J Francis, who wanted to reintroduce himself. It’s story time as Francis tells us he enrolled in 2018 at the 3D Wrestling Academy. He got a phone call that the Cleveland Browns were interested and told his agent that he would rather learn to wrestle for free than play one snap for the Cleveland Browns. He detests all things Cleveland. He focused on his match with Nick Nemeth. Nemeth stole more opportunities from him than he can count. So, he reciprocated by taking Nemeth’s health.
At Rebellion he will put Nemeth out of commission for good, in front of his family, friends and his talentless little brother. He is the best big man in the business – and that business is money, money, money.
We go back to the announce table where Tasha Steelz joined Hannifan and Rehwoldt. Steelz has a vested interest in this next match.
“Doomsday” Dani Luna vs. Jada Stone
Luna is out first and does the chain pull to bring the cameraman to her and threaten the camera. She grabbed her chain from the corner and threatened the other cameraman. Stone came out next and immediately headed to the ring and posed for the fans, hitting a backflip off the turnbuckles. Hannifan asked Stone about the “atrocious” behavior of Mustafa Ali hurting Stone. Steelz took umbrage saying Stone asked for it by getting in the ring in a match with Ali.
In the ring, Luna powered Stone to the mat. She also grabbed an armlock and worked the arm on the mat. Meanwhile, Steelz told a story of Stone looking up Steelz when Steelz was part of Fire N’ Flava (with Keira Hogan.) Stone wanted to be part of it. Steelz gave Stone advice and mentioned her name to people backstage. Now that she is here, she gave Steelz the cold shoulder.
Meanwhile, Luna continued to dominate Stone with power moves until Stone matrix dodged a running boot and started to beat on Luna. Luna tried to tried to throw Stone to the ropes but Stone blocked the charge and hit a hurincanrana off the second rope. Luna bailed to the floor and Stone hit a dive between the ropes to drop Luna. That also put her in front of the table and Stone and Steelz started to jaw with each other. That gave Luna time to recover and attack Stone. She hit a powerbomb on the apron and Stone laid on the floor.
Stone struggled to get to the ring as Luna rested on the ropes. Stone just beat the count but weas met with a Luna dropkick that sent her back to the floor. Luna threw in the ring for a two count. Stone again tried to rally but in vain. Luna started to work the back on the mat. Luna also thwarted any Stone rally. At the announce table, Steelz and Rehwoldt verbally ganged up on Hannifan.
Luna got a two count from a whip to the turnbuckles. Luna worked the lefts but Stone would not surrender. Luna got Stone on her shoulders for a Argentine Backbreaker but Stone flipped out of it but ran into a huge boot off the ropes for two-and-a-fraction hit a huge commercial break.
When we return, Luna was still in control but Stone avoided a corner charge. Unfazed, Luna mauled Stone on the ropes until Luna missed a running boot and got caught in the ropes. Stone dropkicked Luna to the trapped leg. Stone hit another hurincanrana off the second turnbuckle but missed a handspring back elbow attempt. Stone recovered with a kick and a leg drop from the second turnbuckle. Stone got two-and-a-fraction from a split-legged moonsault.
Stone and Luna traded punches but Luna got the best with a backbreaker from the Tombstone position and a two count from a powerbomb. Luna was frustrated but got Stone in position for the Luna Landing. Stone reversed that into a rollup for a two count. Stone hit two superkicks but a third was blocked into a huge forearm shiver. Luna attempted a running lariat but Stone evaded it and dropped Luna in the corner with a rotating headscissor. Stone signaled for it and hit the Twisting Moonsault for the victory.
Post-Match: Steelz left the announce table and attacked Stone with a series of kicks. She hit a snap Gotch Piledriver. Steelz posed over Stone as Rehwoldt said “actions have consequences.”
Speaking of painful things, let’s go to the Bioflex Injury Report after a one week hiatus. Nemeth is still out after A J Francis attacked him. He should be cleared by Saturday (which is good because they have a match.) Both Jody Threat and Tessa Blanchard are injured from their Bunkhouse Match last week. Blanchard is cleared but Threat is not. Matt Hardy suffered head trauma and ribs injury after the attack from the Righteous but will compete in our main event tonight.
We go to another Rebellion highlight package from 2023 as Eddie Edwards faced PCO in a asked match. PCO hit a senton on Edwards on the apron. PCO dislocated his shoulder in a nasty spot as Edwards attacked him with a Tiger Driver as we go back to 2026 action,
We see Elijah walking through one of New Orleans’ famous graveyards. In New Orleans, they bury the dead above ground, so the line isn’t so clear between life and death, spirit and matter. Each casket holds a story. Sometimes, you just walk. As he makes his way through the graveyard, a kid calls for him (alive, not dead.) He said he and his dad were big fans and would Elijah come to his dad’s gravesite and pray with the kid. Elijah obliged and we get remorseful guitar music.
We head to a vacant spot and Elijah asked where are we going. This was a ruse as Frankie Kazarian attacked him from behind. Kazarian ran Elijah into a tree and dropped him. Kazarian gave a kid a $20 bill. The kid balked and said it was supposed to be $100. Kazarian said he lied and that life sucks. Get used to it, you little mark, Kazarian said as the kid ran off screen. Kazarian gets biblical and said in Romans 19 that we should not take revenge but leave for the wrath of the Lord. It is written it is mine to avenge, so sayeth the Lord. Kazarian walked away as Elijah grabbed his head and we head back to ringside.
We see the chryon and music for Taryn Terrell who heads to ringside and grabbed a mic. She said she misses all of this. She also wanted to thank TNA for letting her hang out with them in New Orleans and thank her family for supporting her so much. She wanted to talk about something more difficult. It got cut short and didn’t end on her terms. She never got a chance to say goodbye. For years, she has watched the company grow and watched the Knockouts division evolve.
She also watched Mickie James pour her heart and soul into this ring; only to be disrespected by the By Elegance Brand. Speaking of which, she had a message for Ash By Elegance – she doesn’t know her or what she is capable. She has sacrificed so much for this division and….
Wait, we hear the dulcet tones of the Personal Concierge telling her to shut her mouth as he emerged from backstage with the By Elegance Brand (sans Ash.) M grabbed the mic and said Terrell makes her sick. She had her time and now this company belongs to the By Elegance Brand. Heather grabbed the mic and asked how dare Terrell stand in “our ring” and use Ash’s name like Terrell still mattered. Heather reminded everyone Ash is on a mental health break right now because of people like Terrell.
M continued that people like her who can’t accept the past and can’t accept the fact someone better arrived. Terrell is standing in the ring trying to gain relevancy from our brand. Terrell she doesn’t want anything from the By Elegance Brand and neither do the people. The crowd (somewhat) roared in approval which brought it back to the PC wanting everyone to shut their mouths. Terrell called them “marks” (sigh…) PC reminded her that she is all alone and asked where her friends are?
He asked for Terrell to look at the screen and for “the doofus in the truck” to show the footage. We see ODB and James flat on their backs. The By Elegance Brand started to charge the ring as PC reminded her that she is all alone and called for the Brand to attack. M dropped Terrell with a clothesline. M and Heather put the boots to her as PC screamed encouragement; even Mr. Elegance got a kick (boo….) Security tried to break up the proceedings but the Brand dispatched the Security. Mr. Elegance picked up Terrell and slammed her to the mat. M grabbed Terrell and Heather climbed to the top to hit their Nip and Tuck finisher (Double stomp/Bow and Arrow hold combination.)
At Rebellion, we are going to finally bury the past, PC said. Meanwhile, the By Elegance Brand posed over Terrell with Mr. Elegance putting his boot on her prone body. More referees and security finally curtail the assault as we head to commercials.
We go to more past Rebellion highlights from Rebellion 2025 as we see the X-Division six way match with K C Navarro, Leon Slater, El Hijo De Vikingo, Cedric Alexander, Moose and Matt Cardona. The four cruiserweights start to climb the structure until Cardona and Moose use chairs to drop them. Moose dropped Cardona and tried to reach for the title but Vikingo dropped him with a top rope cutter as we go back to 2026 action.
We actually head backstage and see Marella arguing with Arianna Grace and “Stacks” Lorenzo. Marella called her a disgrace but Grace said he is just jealous of her success. Lorenzo and Marella started to argue with Lorenzo telling him to “step off” and that no one is here to save him. Marella disagreed that he was the one needing saving and slugged Lorenzo. Marella gave chase as Lorenzo and Grace retreated into a locker room (the sign indicated it was the officials locker room but Grace said it was the women’s locker room.)
Marella was frustrated but Indi Hartwell appeared and checked in the locker room that the coast was clear. She and Marella headed inside and we could hear noises. Hartwell and Marella exited the room and complimented each other. Hartwell said Marella still had it and now he has this – and gives him back his “cobra.” Marella was elated as we head back to ringside.
Frankie Kazarian vs. BDE
Kazarian headed out first as Hannifan and Rehwoldt talk about Rebellion and said we are joined at the table by Ryan Nemeth. Hannifan asked Nemeth about his feud with BDE, who entered the ring to a decent pop and a “BDE” chant.
Hannifan talked about BDE’s near misses in his career and is looking for his first victory. Kazarian took down BDE with a series of arm lock takedowns and bodyslams. He also hit his springboard legdrop and then hit his slingshot backbreaker. The announce team turned their attention to the prior angle shown with Kazarian and Elijah in the graveyard.
Kazarian continued to beat down BDE until BDE backflipped out of a back suplex and started a rally with a series of flips and a rolling Codebreaker. A Blockbuster off the top turnbuckle got a one count. BDE reversed a chicken wing attempt with an armdrag. BDE signaled for the Clip Cutter (springboard cutter) but Kazarian reversed that into a Backstabber. Kazarian immediately capitalized on that and NOW the Chicken Wing is applied for the submission victory.
Post-Match: Nemeth left the table and started to beat on BDE as Kazarian watched. Nemeth held BDE for Kazarian to slug him but suddenly the arena darkened. When the lights illuminated, Elijah was standing on the apron and choked Kazarian with Elijah’s bandana. Kazarian escaped with Nemeth’s help and headed up the rampway with Elijah in hot pursuit as we hightail it to a commercial break.
During the break, we get highlights from Rebellion last year and the fantastic match between Ali and Santana in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Note the sign “The TNA title looks better on Santana.” Santana beat Ali up the rampway and beat him along the concourse and hit a moonsault off the barricade for a two count.
We immediately go back to ringside for our next match
Elayna Black vs. Myla Grace (with Harley Hudson in tow)
Rehwoldt brought up Black is on the comeback trail after her loss to Mara Sade as Black made her way to ringside. Grace was next and Hannifan mentioned that this is her first singles match in TNA.
Black backed Grace into the corner but Grace got the upper hand with a series of rollups and headlock takedowns. Black flailed away after an armdrag into the corner and Grace hit a running back elbow and hit a running seated dropkick in the corner (taking time to say she is that girl – I always that that girl was Marlo Thomas but I digress.)
Black regained the upper hand by hitting a leg trip and Grace hit neck first into the ropes. Black hit a running back elbow to the back for a two count. Black continued to beat on Grace and got a two count from a rope assisted leaping stomp. Grace rallied after trading a series of punches and a running clothesline out of the corner. More punches and a twisting suplex by Grace got a two count.
Grace dragged Black to the corner and climbed to the top but Black recovered and hit a knee. Grace crumpled to the mat and Black positioned Grace and hit the Blackout (a neckbreaker from the double underhook DDT position) for the victory.
Post Match: Black hit her poses in the ring and celebrated.
We immediately go backstage to Rae and Marella (Rae changed clothes into her all black outfit from a black and white outfit earlier.) Rae said she had a talk with the board of directors and Marella is suspended indefinitely. Marella acted incredulous and asked why. Rae went over the incident with his daughter and Lorenzo earlier. Hartwell immediately ran into the shot and tried to defend Marella. Rae chastised her for interrupting her and then Hartwell touched Rae’s shoulder and Rae took umbrage that Hartwell assaulted her. Guess what? Hartwell is suspended indefinitely, too. Rae asked them to leave her “office” (locker room.) they both left and Rae looked pleased with the scenario.
We go back to Hannifan and Rehwoldt who immediately reacted in the manner fitting. Hannifan was incredulous, too; while Rehwoldt was happy that order has finally been restored here in TNA. They quickly pivot and throw to Miller on the rampway with her guest, Ricky Sosa. The crowd immediately got into Sosa’s chant and Sosa soaked in the adulation of the crowd.
Miller asked him what his plans are now that he is officially part of TNA. Sosa said he wants to show everyone here what the “Young Savage” is. No sooner than he said that, Eric Young emerged from the back and interrupted. Young said that he sees Sosa as a pretender and a fraud. Young is real is real and is forever (does feel that way.) He also said he is the gatekeeper and everything here flows through him. He mocked the chant and said that ends now.
Sosa said he never disrespected him and the crowd started the Sosa chant. Young tried to take the mic and quiet the crowd but Sosa said if Young has a problem with him, they can settle it in the ring – right now. Young held his hands up and started to back away. You could see where this is going. Young attacked him from the back and down the rampway. They both got in the ring but Sosa reversed the piledriver and hit a series of running back elbows in the corner.
Sosa attempted to take off his shirt but Young took advantage of that and NOW Young hit the piledriver. The last shot we see is Young standing over Sosa as we head to commercial.
We go to highlights of Rebellon 2024 as Moose fought Nick Nemeth. Interference from the System helped Moose get the upper hand until the referee ejected the System. They head up the rampway as we head back to 2026 action..
(sigh….) We couldn’t escape it so we actually go back to the “undead realm” with James Mitchell introducing Tessa Blanchard to the undead realm. Blanchard asked what is this place (well, he just told you what it is…) Mitchell, though, extrapolated what it is. Blanchard left to wander from the foyer as Mitchell sinisterly laughed.
In another part of the realm, Rosemary and Sade are wandering down a hallway. Rosemary told Sade to be on her guard because others have neglected it. Sade blew her off and said “Roger that.” Rosemary said wrong rabbit and Allie magically appeared. She introduced herself and Sade asked “didn’t you die?” Allie confirmed that she totally died and is totally sick off it (including a flashback to the “death.” )
Meanwhile, in another part of the realm, Mila Moore is wandering solo and disgusted what she saw. A haunting song played as she slowly walked down the hallway. We cut away to Sade, Allie and Rosemary hear a scream off camera. Rosemary said it is like rats in a maze; which actually does make things difficult and went to see what is happening. She asked Sade if she can handle this by herself. Sade said she could but Rosemary and Allie thought otherwise, so Rosemary posed the question to Allie if she could look after Sade and guide her through here. Allie said yes and Sade asked if she was sure. Allie said yes and Sade made a comment about Allie wearing the same gear for seven years. Rosemary shot back and said she got Allie new clothes.
Meanwhile, (exasperated sigh) in another part of the maze Victoria Crawford wandered another part of the hallway wit the same haunting music as she walked by some decapitated “heads” (masks from your local Spirit Halloween store) and then go back to Rosemary who adjusted a radio and a poor Wolfman Jack impersonator said we our halfway to Halloween. We can celebrate all April on Shudder (an AMC channel..don’t tell me this is a promotional tie-in. C’mon..) We go to Rosemary who headed off screen whilst the camera focused on the glitching “rabbit.”
Meanwhile, Moore is continuing to wander down a hallway and Rosemary’s voice is telling her she knows more about Moore than Moore knows about herself. Moore walks backward down a hallway into the grasp of Havoc who pulls her off camera. Meanwhile, we cut back to Mitchell singing the last line of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” Rosemary applauded and the two caught up on old times. Rosemary said they are getting in touch with their inner selves and asked for Mitchell’s help. They talk about indulgences, which is Mitchell’s specialty. They go behind a curtain and fresh from WWE production, it’s Joseph Parrrrr….I mean, Abyss. Abyss asked for forgiveness and it is (really) to be continued….
Now, we go back to the ring and see Order Four already there, adorned in all black. John Skyler has the mic and asked for all the “Louisiana losers” to shut their mouths, rise to their feet and show some respect to the next International Champion, Ali. Ali grabbed the mic and said Rebellion is right around the corner where he will take his rightful place as champion. But he didn’t want to talk to them, he wanted to talk to one specific person, Trey Miguel.
Miguel obliged and headed directly to the ring with title in tow. Ali asked him to relax and wanted to apologize to him for what happened to him and his friend, Jada Stone. They got off on the wrong foot. He has no issue with him but with the culture and these fans love second chance champions. They love people like Miguel and Santana – who are actually screw ups just like the fans. It makes him wonder why Ali isn’t a champion. Ali doesn’t need a second chance.
Ali continued with the issues that Miguel has faced that he hasn’t – including arrests and substance abuse. Ali never got a parking ticket. Ali said he is too good for TNA. Miguel said Ali is not a champion because he is a scumbag and a coward. Miguel is appreciative of the second chance he got and there some people who need the second chance. That is why they support him and not Ali. Miguel said he has always treated TNA as family. Ali took umbrage with that, saying his family is behind him (motioning to Order Four) while his family was the Ras….as Ali stopped himself from saying it to the ire of the crowd. They are not here anymore, Ali said; mimicking the little wave they did.
Miguel said he is right but they are still his brothers; but even alone, he has the title. He made fun of the Order Four saying even with them, Ali has nothing. Ali ordered Order Four out of the ring and the two started to fight. Miguel got the upper hand until Order Four disobeyed and attacked Miguel. Zero flattened Miguel with a headbutt. Zero grabbed Miguel and hit a chokeslam until Moose (with Alisha Edwards in tow) hit the ring and cleared everyone. A big boot sent Zero over the top rope. Ali jumped on Moose’s back but Moose bucked him off into a Miguel superkick and a Moose spear. Miguel climbed to the top rope but Skyler and Jason Hoch removed Ali from harm’s way and made their way up the ramp, threatening all three.
Our main event is next…after the break.
We go back to Rebellion 2024 with Ali, as a face, versus Jake Something.
After the break, we go back to the announce table and get the full rundown of the Rebellion card; Santana vs. Edwards for the World Title, Slater vs. Alexander for the X-Division title, The Hardys (or Righteous) versus the System (Bear Bronson and Brian Myers) for the tag championships, Arianna Grace vs. Lei Ying Lee for the Knockouts World title, Ali vs. Miguel for the International title, Moose vs. Agent Zero, Kazarian vs. Elijah, A J Francis vs. Nick Nemeth (with Bernie Kosar in tow,) Ryan Nemeth vs. BDE and a Hardcore Country match as the By Elegance Brand vs. ODB, Terrell and James.
TNA Tag Team Title Tables Match: The Hardys vs. The Righteous
The snapping and slide guitar indicate the Righteous head out first with Mitchell doing her weird inflection on “Righteous.” The Hardys are next to their usual huge pop. The Righteous meet them on the rampway and the match started. Matt Dodged Dutch’s charge and hit the ringpost. Jeff ducked a shot by Vincent with the title belt and Matt beat on Vincent.
In the ring, Matt hit the Side Effect on Vincent. Matt immediately headed to the floor and got a table. The Hardys slid it into the ring and hit a double back elbow on Vincent. They finished setting the table and Matt continued to beat on Vincent. The Hardys hit the guillotine neck snap/leg drop combo on the apron as Matt went to the floor and grabbed Dutch. The Hardys whipped Dutch into the ringsteps.
The Hardys got Vincent on the table in the ring and Matt ascended to the top. However, Matt missed an elbow drop from the turnbuckles but the ref waived off the table break. Dutch and Vincent beat on Jeff in the corner. Vincent continued the beat down as Dutch grabbed another table. The heels set up the table in the corner and attempted to throw Jeff into it. Jeff avoided breaking it but the Righteous continued their beatdown.
Dutch threw Matt in the ring and now all four were engaged in the fight. The Hardys regained the momentum and Matt and Jeff hit the descending turnbuckle slams on the Righteous. Jeff hit the Poetry in Motion on Vincent and then on Dutch. They double clotheslined Dutch out of the ring.
Jeff hit a sliding dropkick to send Vincent to the floor. Vincent recovered and slammed Matt into the table. Meanwhile, Jeff ran Dutch into the ringsteps. Matt slammed Vincent’s head into the announce table. Jeff joined the beatdown on Vincent as we join our final commercial break.
We come back to the Hardys focusing on Dutch, still selling the ring step spot. The two took turns beating on Dutch on the floor. Jeff now grabbed a ladder from under the ring. After waffling Vincent with a giant broom, Jeff climbed the ladder but Vincent recovered and pulled Jeff to the floor and it a DDT. Vincent attempted to destroy the ladder (that’s original, at least.)
The Righteous set up tables and Vincent jawed with the fans. Meanwhile, we get an insert shot of Bronson and Myers watching backstage. In the ring, the Righteous attempted to suplex the Hardys onto the tables but the Hardys blocked it. Dutch ran Jeff into the ringpost as a “Let’s go Hardys, let’s go” chant emerged. Dutch set Jeff on the table on the floor. Dutch climbed on the apron and the ring post. However, Matt recovered, as did Jeff, and threw Dutch onto the table and breaking it.
However, Vincent ran into Matt and knocked him into the other table on the floor evening the odds. Now, it was just Jeff vs. Vincent. Vincent climbed to the top but missed a Swanton Bomb, however, Jeff’s attempt was also in vain. Matt hit the Twist of Fate on Vincent on the floor. Matt bit Vincent and set up Vincent on another table on the floor. Jeff scaled to the top turnbuckle and NOW we get the Swanton Bomb through the table and the Hardys retain the title.
Post-Match: The Hardys posed in the ring with the title s but Dutch charged the champs and sent Jeff through the table. Vincent helped his partner up and viewed the carnage from the rampway as we go off air
Impactful Ruminations:
One: This was an iffy show. Production was great and Hannifan and Rehwoldt were their usual solid best. However, there were some flaws to the show.
Two: I said this last week and will reiterate the point. I am a huge fan of the Righteous and have been since I saw them in AEW/ROH. If we are to believe they are a credible threat, shouldn’t they have won a match or two. I can think of a win and that’s it. You made the big debut and then buried them slowly but surely. They always get the post-match beat down to give hope but it is after the fact. And now, we wonder where they are slotted after Rebellion as the Hardys face the System.
Three: I am just about to put BDE in the same spot but think – think – they might get him his first win against Ryan Nemeth. It would make sense. I know, I know, this is TNA. But, they can’t keep burying this guy, too, can they? Also, what happened to Rich Swann’s tutelage?
Four: Pour one for Dani Luna as she jobbed to Stone in her final TNA match. Her heel run was great and showed what she truly could do. This would have been a great match against a smaller opponent. Here is hoping she gets with someone who will fully appreciate her gifts. Preferably, not AEW, where she might get lost in the mix. Re-joining WWE would be a logical step or just head back to high-level independent promotions,
Five: I see what they were trying to do with the contract signing at the opening versus the tried and true “main event contract signing.” We got the beat down and overturned table but both Santana and Edwards brought great restrained fire in their mic work. However, given the main event, I wouldn’t have balked that loudly to moving it to the main event since we are doing the walk up to Rebellion. The main event just seemed weirdly anti-climactic.
Six: No more Undead Realm, please. That was a slog to review and watch. We are wasting Blanchard and Sade (and hindering Moore’s progress which has been slow but somewhat steady.) I don’t know why we focus that much on that and getting the old spooky gang back together.
Seven: The Black vs. Grace match was just there. Black made a nice accounting for herself but after a decent debut, I have no idea what they are doing with Grace. She and Hudson seem to be floundering.
Eight: I also wasn’t crazy about the Brand vs. legends promo. It almost feels like the Personal Concierge is taking a back seat as M and Heather do solid mic work. Hopefully, all is well with Ash. I don’t think a build up to a feud should be based on the term “mark.” That drove me crazy which led to the down point of…..
Nine: The Kazarian/Elijah vignette was well crafted and intrigued me. That was well crafted and executed only for Kazarian to blemish it by calling the kid a “mark.” Isn’t there a better term to use? Aside from that, it was a very well-crafted segment.
10: We are inching closer and closer to what I think is going to be a Team Marella vs. Team Rae battle on a PLE. Hopefully, not a Hardcore War match; but, some semblance of a multi-person match or card featuring the two factions.
- Francis was solid on the mic and I get the appeal of having Kosar in the corner but it just feels like an angle from WCW in the 1990’s.
12: Speaking of solid mic work, give it up for Miguel who went quip for quip with Ali, who was his usual great self on the mic. That was an unexpected highlight. Nice work from both of them.
13: I do give credit for Young for self-realization. I wonder how far and fast the rocket will go with Sosa. The crowd just loves him and would be intrigued by a series of matches with Slater.
14: Despite the suspension, at least Marella sent Hartwell to make sure all was clear in the women’s locker room (you might want to remove the officials sign from the door, though.)
Keep Fighting the Good Fight.
