Authorities allege he physically and verbally assaulted his partner, identified as his wife Mary Carmen Rodríguez Lucero, with police detaining him at the scene after responding to a call for help. The case is now with a specialised unit handling crimes against women, with a judge set to review the investigation. If convicted, the base charge carries a sentence of one to seven years in prison, though a more serious offence could bring a potential eight to 20-year term.
