AAA Review – 04.04.26

AAA comes to Youtube tonight from The Showcenter Complex in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The American announcing team are Corey Graves, Rey Mysterio, and JBL. Tonight is the first show following the huge events of Rey de Reyes Parts 1, 2, and 3 so let’s watch some Lucha Libre!

I found a Youtube channel that has an archive of older AAA shows, so bookmark it and check it out!

Highlights of Rey de Reyes are shown to start the show and what a card it was.

Tokyo Bad Boys (Kento, Nobu, and Takuma) vs Lince Dorado, El Mesias, and Mecha Wolf

Dorado starts with Nobu and Dorado kicks Nobu during a handshake. Dorado and Nobu exchange armbars and dropkicks, and then Nobu finally hits a scoop slam to end the flurry. Wolf and Takuma tag in and Takuma chops away and Wolf responds with a high boot. Takuma snaps off a helicopter DDT and a reverse thrust kick before dropping Wolf with a right. Mesias tags in as does Kento and a chop battle begins. Mesias launches a right but gets hit with a low dropkick before Takuma tags in. There’s a triple dropkick and Takuma covers and gets two. Mesias dumps Nobu and Wolf and Dorado charge over to dispose of Takuma and Kento. Mesias clubbers away on Kento and Wolf and Dorado send Kento into a Mesias powerslam that gets two. Wolf tags in and Kento tries to fight with some strikes but Wolf fires off a snap suplex and a twisting suplex that gets two. Dorado tags in and clobbers Kento with a forearm that gets two. Dorado rakes the back and hits a backstabber on Kento that gets two. Mesias tags in and he fires off a bunch of back elbows and a running low lariat that gets two.

Mesias puts the stink-mouth on Kento and it seems to fire him up because he drops Mesias with an enziguri. Nobu gets a tag as does Dorado and Nobu drops everyone with dropkicks. Nobu and Takuma combine to send Mesias to the floor and the Bad Boys combine to send Nobu as a missile onto Mesias. Kento flies off the top to crush Dorado, and Takuma flies out to wallop Wolf. Nobu manages to hit an overhead suplex on the much larger Mesias that gets two. Mesias mashes Nobu and Takuma with a double spear and then powerbombs Takuma through the mat. Kento uses Takuma as a launch pad to wallop Mesias with a flying lariat. Dorado flies in and he eats a couple of superkicks. Dorado shakes it off and hits stereo stunners on Nobu and Kento. Wolf flies in and mashes Nobu with a kick and tope suicida. Mesias yanks Takuma into a Flatliner and covers him for three.

Mesias and Mecha Wolf were over like rover in Monterrey. Mesias brings a level of legend to the proceedings that makes him almost royalty to the Monterrey crowd. This was a solid sprint that had something for everyone. Fun opener, and Mesias picks up the win for his team to get the crowd pumped for the rest of the show. 3.5*

Here’s Nathan Frazer trying to learn Spanish and he’s joined by Axiom. As it turns out, they’ll be on opposite sides tonight in the second trios match as Frazer is on Team UK while Axiom is on Team Europe. HIGH-LARIOUS.

Reina de Reinas Championship: Lady Flammer (C) vs Sussy Love

Flammer dumps Love and puts the boots to her before snapping off an armdrag. There’s a standoff and Flammer belts Love with a right. Love fires off a couple of kicks and smashes Flammer down with a running clothesline. Love hits a tope suicida and Flammer begs off getting a second one. Love yanks Flammer up by her hair but Flammer escapes and pounds Love with a forearm. Flammer clubbers away and puts the stink-mouth on Love before pulling her into a camel clutch. Love rises and elbows her way out of it but runs into a Flammer big boot. Love ducks a clothesline and hits a crossbody and a release German. Love hits a running knee and then smashes her with a double knee strike. Love hits a moonsault and covers Flammer for two. Love misses a charge and Love hits a codebreaker and a running shotgun dropkick along the ropes that gets three.

Love was game but Flammer is just ridiculously dominant right now. It will be something when she finally loses this title but for now, her reign just rolls on towards 1000 days. Incredible. 2.5*

Winner – Lady Flammer (Running shotgun dropkick)

Here’s a look at El Hijo Del Vikingo offering a challenge for Penta‘s Intercontinental title, and this challenge will happen NEXT WEEK in Mexico City. I cannot wait for that one. Penta speaks and says that WWE acquiring AAA was a great thing for the future superstars of Mexico. Penta loves being part of the process and is happy he and Rey Fenix have been welcomed so warmly. Penta is happy and grateful to repay all the gratitude shown to him since he returned. On April 11th he’ll return home to defend the Intercontinental title and he’s excited to defend against Vikingo but he plans to humiliate him.

Nathan Frazer, Charlie Dempsey and Tristan Angels vs Axiom, Dorian Van Dux, and Elio LeFleur

Dempsey and Axiom start and Axiom ties up Dempsey’s legs before pulling Dempsey’s arms back. Dempsey fights out of it and yanks Axiom into an armbar. Dempsey slaps on a double chicken wing and then pulls Axiom into a bow-and-arrow. Axiom goes to an octopus but Dempsey makes the ropes. Axiom dumps Dempsey over and Frazer tags in. There’s a handshake and Angels grabs a tag before any fisticuffs can ensue. Angels dumps Axiom so Van Dux flies in with a rana. LeFleur gets a tag to drop Angels with a rana. Van Dux hoists LeFleur onto a prone Angels and that gets two. Frazer tags in and LeFleur and him do some incredibly fast acrobatics that finally ends with a Frazer running kick. Frazer hits a rolling neckbreaker and covers LeFleur for two. Angels tags in and wallops LeFleur with an overhead suplex. Angels double stomps LeFleur and Dempsey tags in. LeFleur fires off some elbows but Dempsey yanks him into a bridge German that gets two.

Frazer tags in and he hits a low dropkick on LeFleur that gets two. Frazer runs into a LeFleur cutter and Dempsey and Angels charge in. Van Dux gets a tag and he smashes Angels around and drops him with a side body slam. Van Dux hits a top rope cutter and covers Angels for two. Dempsey causes distraction and Angels hits an enziguri to slow Van Dux down. Dempsey hits a top rope butterfly suplex and covers Van Dux for two as LeFleur flies in to break up the cover. Axiom and Frazer tag in and predictably it goes very fast. Frazer hits a superkick but runs right into an Axiom dropkick. Frazer snaps off a superkick of his own and Axiom kicks out at two. Frazer ascends and Axiom fires off a kaman giri. Axiom hits a top rope Spanish Fly that gets broken up at two by Dempsey and Angels. LeFleur gets walloped by an Angels lariat and his cover gets broken up by an Axiom running knee at two.

Dempsey charges in and drops Axiom with a backbreaker, and then Dempsey turns into a Van Dux clothesline. Frazer hits Sliced Bread on Van Dux, and LeFleur wastes Frazer with a top rope springboard dropkick. Van Dux hoists Axiom and tosses him onto Dempsey and Frazer who are on the floor. Van Dux hits an over-the-top-rope splash on Dempsey and Frazer. LeFleur hits a running leg scissors-rana and covers Angels for three.

Wow that was a LOT of action right there. If you like acrobatic sprints, this was your jam. Angels hasn’t debuted yet on Evolve and Van Dux won his first contest on that brand this week. LeFleur is currently injured and out for awhile but he was the Men’s Speed Champion prior to that injury. Dempsey is part of Birthright in NXT, and FrAxiom are a tag team on Smackdown, so this was pretty much all WWE talent in this one. The crowd LOVED this, and I pretty much did as well. 3.75*

Las Toxicas promise the biggest celebration in history on next week’s show as the credits roll and we’re out.

An easy thumbs up for tonight’s show. Both trios matches were a ton of fun, and the Flammer defense was a solid sprint to get over the dominant Women’s champion. Be back here next week for what should be a monumental show from Mexico City with Penta-Vikingo and the Flammer championship celebration.
