In case you need to catch up with all things WWE, you can do so right here: Raw | NXT | Evolve | Impact | Smackdown
Tonight’s 29th annual Rey de Reyes comes to Youtube from the Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla de Zaragoza, Mexico. The American announcing team are Corey Graves, Rey Mysterio and JBL. Tonight’s show will be live, while the following two weeks will be recorded and shown at the normal time on Youtube so if you see spoilers for the entire show, please DO NOT DISCUSS THEM in the comments. Thanks! With that out of the way, let’s watch some lucha libre!
Then, Now, Forever….TOGETHER
Entrances include Flammer with her Las Toxicas stablemates La Hiedra and Lady Maravilla, La Parka, Santos Escobar, El Grande Americano OG, and El Grande Americano Nuevo. Dominik Mysterio looks over a merch table while his challenger El Hijo Del Vikingo is accompanied by his El Ojo stablemates Omos and Dorian Roldan. There is a long highlights package about tonight’s matches and the stipulations surrounding the main event Mega Championship match.
Here’s Rey Fenix out while Rey Mysterio and JBL send along good wishes to Konnan. Fenix gets a big pop and grabs a microphone to tell Puebla “LET’S GOOOOOOO”. Fenix is excited to be back in Puebla and says everyone will make history at Rey de Reyes 2026. Fenix promises surprises and says one is very special because the surprise is his family, his blood, and his favorite wrestler…so let’s welcome the new Intercontinental Champion Penta! Penta gets a gigantic pop as he makes his way to the ring to a big embrace from younger brother Fenix. Penta tells Fenix not to leave and wants him to stay in the ring. Penta tells Fenix that maybe it’s time for the Lucha Brothers to re-unite and Fenix speculates that it is indeed time. Penta mentions TripleMania in Puebla and suggests they come back as the Lucha Brothers. Penta says everyone wants it so let’s make it happen because they were born in AAA. Penta puts over Rey de Reyes and the beautiful 29 year tradition and mentions a bunch of legendary luchadores before trashing El Hijo Del Vikingo. Penta holds his Intercontinental aloft and says that the title is for all of Mexico. Penta promises to put the title on the line in Mexico because he wants the people to see how far he can take the title. Penta wants a challenger but no one wants to step up, so he will just welcome everyone to Rey de Reyes with zero fear.
A fun opening promo but it went on a little long. Penta and Fenix are over like rover, though.
Reina de Reinas Championship Open Challenge: Flammer vs Bayley
Bayley gets an enormous pop as expected, and Rey Mysterio puts over talking with Bayley ahead of time about how much she loves the lucha style. Flammer goes behind and Bayley reverses, and Flammer does the same. Flammer works an elbow lock and leans back into it, but Bayley escapes to roll her up for two. There’s a roll up exchange and we reset. Flammer starts clubbering away and after some rope running Bayley manages to grab a short-lived armbar. Bayley eats a forearm and some kicks but she shakes it off with a snapmare, a running forearm and a short clothesline. Flammer escapes to the floor so Bayley follows and hits a short dropkick. Bayley runs Flammer back in and covers for two. Bayley gets dumped to the apron and Flammer SWEEPS THE LEG before smashing Bayley with a big knee. Flammer hits a tope that sends Bayley to the floor. Flammer runs Bayley back in and starts clobbering her with rights and some kicks. Flammer hits a lariat and then crotches Bayley on the ringpost. Flammer sinks in a rear chinlock but once she escapes Bayley hits a high boot when Flammer charges before snapping off a neckbreaker. Bayley hits a Saito suplex and then crushes Flammer with a running knee that gets two.
Flammer escapes a Bayley-to-Belly but she eats a knee lift and a sunset flip into a bottom turnbuckle. Bayley hits the Bayley-to-Belly and gets two as Flammer pulls off a turnbuckle pad. Flammer fires up with a double stomp and they start slugging it out mid-ring. Flammer hits a reverse thrust kick and then smashes Bayley with a second rope legdrop. Bayley kicks out at two. Flammer misses a charge and Bayley hits a second rope elbow before covering and getting two. Flammer hits a running forearm and a Codebreaker before covering and getting two. Flammer mounts Bayley in a corner and clubbers away but Bayley fights back with some rights. Bayley hits the Savage Elbow and here’s Lady Maravilla out. La Hiedra comes in from the other side and Bayley disposes of her, but Flammer uses that time to smash Bayley into the exposed turnbuckle. Flammer hits another Codebreaker and a short shotgun dropkick before covering and getting three.
Las Toxicas needed their entire crew to retain Flammer’s title here but they managed to make it work, and so Flammer will indeed set the record for the longest Reina de Reinas championship reign. Bayley was game here and made her style integrate fairly seamlessly with Flammer’s, which is quite a testament for two folks who probably have never shared a ring before. This was a fun opener even with the slight overbooking at the end. 3.25*
Winner AND STILL Reina de Reinas Champion – Flammer (Shotgun Dropkick)
After commercials, it’s time for the Final of the Rey de Reyes tournament. This is the first time that the winner of the tournament will receive a guaranteed shot at the Mega Championship in addition to winning the Rey de Reyes sword.
Rey de Reyes Tournament Finals: La Parka vs Santos Escobar vs El Grande Americano OG vs El Grande Americano Nuevo
Escobar and Parka get dumped and the EGA’s face off briefly. Escobar charges in and starts walloping both Americanos before Parka comes in with a rana on Escobar. EGA-OG starts smashing Parka in a corner but Parka escapes to hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that gets two. Parka gets dumped to the apron but he smashes EGA-OG with a roundhouse kick and a cross-body from the top. Parka sends EGA-OG to the floor and then ascends, but Escobar dumps him and turns to face Nuevo. Nuevo hits a big kick and then starts throwing rights to Escobar in a corner. Nuevo gets crotched and goes to the floor with Escobar giving chase. Everyone goes back in and Parka sends Escobar out with a dropkick and OG out with a facebreaker. Parka hits a moonsault on the other three competitors and celebrates on the ramp. Parka yanks up EGA-OG and hits a helicopter powerbomb that gets two. EGA-OG drops Parka with a hotshot and a lariat before going to ground and pound. EGA-OG works Parka’s left arm and shoulder. EGA-OG pulls Parka into a hanging armbar before ascending for a top rope clothesline that gets two.
Escobar flies in and gets caught with a Northern Lights suplex by EGA-OG that gets two. EGA-OG sends Escobar back to the floor and goes back to smashing Parka with rights in a corner. Nuevo comes in and dumps EGA-OG but Escobar spoils his attempt to smash EGA-OG by kneeing him away. Escobar hits a double knee on Nuevo and EGA-OG, before walloping Parka as well. Escobar hits a superkick on Parka and covers for two. Escobar tries to bully Nuevo to no effect and Nuevo buries him with some rights and a flying enziguri. Parka survives a suplex attempt but Nuevo sends them both out with a double lariat. The Americanos face off again and start slugging it out mid-ring. Nuevo drops EGA-OG with a backdrop and then Escobar gets caught with a Cavernaria submission. Escobar rolls out of it and EGA-OG puts on an ankle lock. Nuevo grabs the Cavernaria on Parka but finally everyone breaks out and we reset.
Parka kicks Escobar but Escobar mounts Parka on a top turnbuckle when he charges. Escobar hits a superplex and covers Parka for two. Parka misses a moonsault and EGA-OG flies in to smash Parka and Escobar with a double German. EGA-OG ascends and crushes Escobar with a diving headbutt that gets two as Nuevo breaks up the cover. Nuevo starts dropping bombs on EGA-OG and then yanks him up, but EGA-OG slips off and runs Nuevo into a turnbuckle. EGA-OG hits a Fisherman’s Buster on Nuevo and ascends, but Parka catches him with a Spanish Fly. In the midst of that Escobar hits Parka with a superkick and covers EGA-OG for two. Parka and Escobar square off but the Americanos rise up for suplexes on both. EGA-OG loads up his mask as does Nuevo and they crash together with running headbutts. Parka hits a frog splash on Escobar and gets two. Parka and Escobar crash together while trying lariats as the Americanos battle on the floor and then into the crowd. They fight all the way to the back as Escobar pulls a chair out from under the ring. Parka ducks a chairshot and pulls Escobar into a guillotine before dropping him with a suplex that gets two. Parka ascends and misses his moonsault as Escobar slips out of the way. Escobar’s cover gets two. Escobar grabs the chair and hoists Parka for a front facebreaker on it. Escobar’s cover only gets two. Nuevo staggers back in as we see Rayo and Bravo Americano handcuffing EGA-OG to a post in a luxury box. Nuevo hits a clothesline and a back suplex on Escobar, but Escobar slips his charge and rolls Nuevo up with a handful of tights for two.
El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jr flies in to smash Escobar with a chair and Nuevo hits Escobar with two headbutts before covering and getting three! El Grande Americano Nuevo is the Rey de Reyes Champion for 2026!
Phew. A LOT happened there, but what a spectacle this was. Four-ways with no DQ rules have to be tough to agent but they did this one very well for the most part. Typically you’ll get a bunch of sequences where two guys are on the floor while the others fight it out and that is what this was, but it really worked well because the sequences didn’t go on for too long. This was super fun and EGA Nuevo is so incredibly over that the decision to crown him makes a lot of sense. The crowd LOVED this, too. 4*
Winner and Rey De Reyes Champion – El Grande Americano Nuevo (Two headbutts to Escobar)
Lazy Boy Rodriguez of UFC fame is at the show. Graves runs down the card for next week’s card including the sword presentation. It’s time for tonight’s main event!
AAA Mega Championship: Dominik Mysterio (C) vs El Hijo Del Vikingo
Vikingo is out with Dorian Roldan to start and flips off the crowd as they boo him mercilessly during his intro. Vikingo goes to the floor to grab a kendo stick, and Mysterio does the same (this is No DQ for the record). Mysterio hits a dropkick and Vikingo responds with a bunch of armdrags and some dropkicks. Vikingo throws a chop and then mounts Mysterio over a second turnbuckle for a running dropkick to the gentleman’s region. Vikingo misses a charge but recovers with a bunch of kicks. Vikingo goes back to the floor for some chairs. Vikingo hurls a chair at Mysterio’s head and then dropkicks him to the floor. Vikingo runs Mysterio into the ring steps and grabs another chair that he sets up. Vikingo mounts Mysterio on the chair and then flies out with a tope suicida on Mysterio. Vikingo rolls Mysterio in and gets two.
Vikingo pulls out a trash can and puts it over Mysterio’s head. Vikingo grabs a kendo stick and smashes the trash can a bunch before dropkicking Mysterio. Vikingo’s cover gets two. Vikingo slaps on a submission and bites Mysterio’s face as Mysterio appears to be busted open. They slug it out and Mysterio snaps Vikingo over the top rope throat-first. Mysterio hits a couple kendo stick shots and then goes to Three Amigos. Vikingo prevents the last one and slaps Mysterio hard in the chest. Mysterio hits a Michinoku Driver and covers Vikingo but Roldan breaks the cover up at two. Mysterio pushes Roldan and here comes Omos down the ramp. Vikingo uses the distraction for a roll up that gets two, but Mysterio springs up with a clothesline that gets two. Omos snatches the trash can away from Mysterio and wallops Mysterio in the face with it. Vikingo ascends hits a double stomp on Mysterio that gets two.
Roldan grabs the title belt and hands it to Vikingo who straps it on while ascending. Vikingo misses a splash and Mysterio hits a dropkick. Omos prevents a 619 and smashes Mysterio with a chokeslam on the apron. Omos comes in and yanks Mysterio up for another chokeslam. Omos pulls up Vikingo and yanks Mysterio into place, but here’s Mini Vikingo out to hit a rana on Vikingo. Omos chokes Mini Vikingo and Mysterio crushes Omos in the nuts before smashing him with a chair. Mysterio chairs Vikingo and then hits the 619. Mysterio ascends and hits the frog splash before covering and getting three!
This was always going to be an overbooked mess but the crowd ate it up with a spoon. The no DQ stip meant outside involvement and we got a bunch of it but Mini Vikingo showing up out of nowhere was quite the surprise. This is it for Vikingo in terms of being able to challenge Mysterio for the title but I wonder if Omos might have some designs on it. I guess we’ll see what unfolds. For now, Dom holds on to the title and everyone is happy that the hated Vikingo has lost. 3*
Winner AND STILL AAA Mega Champion – Dominik Mysterio (Frog Splash)
The credits roll as Omos glares at Mysterio and we’re out for Night One.
This was a fun show, as always, and the crowd was so into things that it really makes it move right along. Thumbs way up for tonight and let’s hope it continues over the next two weeks.
Thanks for reading and commenting. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
