Evening Daily News Update: January 17, 2026 – TNA Genesis Edition
By Kat Bourne on 17 January 2026
Good evening, Doomsters! I hope you’re having the Saturday night that you deserve.
Tonight, hot off the many varied impressions left by the AMC debut, TNA presents TNA Genesis. Mike Santana defends his World Title against Frankie Kazarian in a Texas Deathmatch, JDC dances into his retirement match, Zaria tries to win the Knockouts Title and another six matches line the card. I imagine the Blog of Doom’s King of TNA Scott Herrin will have a review.
Meanwhile in AEW, it’s Saturday and that means AEW Collision. The Maximum Carnage continues! It wouldn’t be Collision without multiple trios matches and we have two announced for tonight as well as Andrade and Penelope Ford both making their returns to AEW in-ring action. Niz will likely have his review ready to go for you.
WWE presents AAA Lucha Libre tonight on YouTube. El Grande Americano vs. El Hijo del Vikingo main events with the winner being the #1 contender to Dirty Dom’s AAA Mega Championship, plus AAA has its own Saturday night trios action and AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer battles Lady Shani in a non-title encounter. We don’t have anybody reviewing this show, but what if it was… you?
Garth has decided to review JCW Lunacy. I hear rumors that Vince Russo has struck again. Elsewhere, Niz made it through another SmackDown. At this point, Niz should declare himself for the Royal Rumble.
Teddy Hart Returns to Wrestling
Haven’t we already suffered enough in 2026?
YouTube Spotlight: Shotgun Saturday Night
WWE Vault has added the third episode of Shotgun to its rotation including Steve Austin vs Goldust (with a big Terry Funk appearance), Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Rocky Maivia and several other things all in the unique setting of a bar.
That’s your Saturday night. Now go forth into the comments section and be cool to each other as you discuss football, basketball, AEW, TNA, or your Mount Rushmore of Fandango matches. When you get done with that, make sure to read some of the work our great writers have done and leave them some feedback and join the discussion as well. Michael will be here with your morning scoop, and I’ll be back tomorrow night to prepare for the Rumble ’91 live watch!
