TNA Impact Review – 01.15.26
By Scott Herrin on 16 January 2026
“Overture, curtain, lights/this is it, the night of nights.” Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck sang that years ago and tonight it has new meaning as we get introduced into the “AMC Era” of TNA Impact Wrestling. We are in that city four hours up Highway 45 at the Curtis Culwell Center. All the stars are here (well ones without visa issues, more later.) So, “On with the show this is it;” let’s put on our Thursday best and get ready for some Impactful Discourse. Shall we? We shall.
We get the full cinematic, dramatic intro with a montage of the TNA Impact starts in action and behind the scenes. Tonight, the heavens bear witness and the past makes way for what was always meant to be.
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt greet us but so does….
A J Styles chryon appears and we get a loud A J Styles chant before Styles STRUCK HIS POSE and appeared on the rampway. In case one was confused, McKenzie Mitchell emphatically announced his name with the crowd announcing it with her.
He wanted to make this short and sweet. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls and across the country welcome to the house A J Styles built. But, this is bigger, bolder and badder thanks to being on AMC and an “AMC” chant emerged. Styles wanted us to keep the enthusiasm going during the night. It’s starts with the fans who are the TNA Nation and it starts with those three letters – TNA. Styles wanted the chaos to begin. (But first, opening theme.)
Hannifan greeted us officially. So, who is the second star who greets us? Elijah He asked who wanted to know who wanted to walk with him? After that, we get the Hardys introduction who get a giant pop with a live guitarist and other people on stage (social media stars methinks.)
Elijah and the Hardys vs. Order Four (Mustafa Ali, John Skyler and Jason Hotch with Tasha Steelz and Agent Zero in tow)
Elijah and he Hardys made their way to the ring. Order Four arrive with extra servicemen in tow. All three are donned in white and gold tights. Ali hits the ring followed by the Great Hands and immediately start to brawl. Ali and Elijah square off whilst Hotch and Jeff and Skyler and John battle.) The Great Hands dispatch the Hardys to the floor and help Ali beat down Elijah. The Hands held Elijah as Ali headed to the top turnbuckle. However, Elijah fought out of the grasp and sent the Hands to the ropes which lead to the Ali crotching himself on the turnbuckles.
Elijah climbed on top of the Great Hands and Superplexed Ali. Ali went to the floor. The Great Hands hit the ropes to clothesline but Elijah ducked. The Hardys had made their way to the apron, got into the ring and clotheslined the Hands to the floor. The faces got the crowd riled as we get riled up by commercials.
Back from break, Matt threw Hotch into the apron and then into the ring. He then hit the 10 spot turnbuckle ram down the buckles spot. Matt then did a guillotine Rope snap on Hotch as Jeff hit a legdrop form the apron. Jeff cot in the match and hit a snapmare followed by a seated dropkick. He tagged Matt who hit an elbow drop from the second rope onto the arm of Hotch. Elijah tagged and hit the top rope walk into a forearm smash on Hotch for a two count.
Hotch tried to regain momentum by hitting a boot on a charging Elijah in the corner but Hotch climbed the rope and leapt at Elijah only to be hit with an uppercut. Eljah cleared Order Four form the apron but Hotch recovered and attacked Elijah’s arm by slamming it to the mat and then tangling it in the ropes and hitting a dropkick.
Skyler tagged and continued to pound on the arm of Elijah. Skyler also tagged tangled Elijah’s arm in the ropes but as the referee tried to control Skyler. Agent Zero picked up Steelz who hit a dropkick on the arm from the floor. Skyler cinched in an armlock.
Back from break, Elijah tried to fight out of the armlock and chopped away on Skyler, Skyler tagged Ali who took out the Hardys. Ali and Skyler whipped Elijah into the corner but a charging Ali met Elijah’s boot and Elijah moved so the charging Skyler went shoulder first into the ringpost. Elijah backdropped Skyler over the top and then evaded a charging Ali as Ali hit the face first slide into the turnbuckle.
Jeff made it to the apron Elijah and made the tag; Hardy was a compound on fire as he hit a series of clotheslines on Ali and hit the inverted enziguri on Ali. Hardy hit a gorudbuster but missed a charge to the corner. Ali got on the apron and attempted his rolling neckbreaker through the ropes but Jeff caught him with a Twist of Fate.
Steelz got in the ring and climbed on the turnbuckle to verbally accost Jeff. Ali recuperated and charged Jeff but Jeff moved and Steelz ended up on Ali’s back. Matt, meanwhile, made it to the apron and climbed in the ring. Matt hit a double Twist of Fate on Ali with Steelz still on her back. Jeff dove on Ali for the pin but the Great Hands broke up the pin. Hotch dragged Ali to the corner who tagged Skyler.
The Great Hands attempted to hit attack Jeff but Eljah broke it up and abut the Great Hands attacked Eliah. They whipped Elijah into the corner but Elijah stopped him. Hotch charged and tried to lift Elijah but ate mule kick for his efforts. Skyler charged was met with jumping knee strike by Elijah. Matt hit the Twist of Fate and Jeff climbed to the top and hit a Swanton Bomb for the victory.
Post Match: The Hardys and Elijah celebrated but Agent Zero got in the ring and hit a choke bomb on Elijah and a double clothesline on the Hardys. The Righteous ran to the ring and Ali called Agent Zero to the floor. Vincent and Dutch picked up the Hardys but Dutch hit the Death Walks (Bossman Slam) on Matt. Vincent slugged Jeff with a chain. Jeff slumped to the corner as Vincent wrapped the chain around the ropes and on a lock. Vincent put the lock through Jeff’s ear hole. Vincent climbed to the top and hit his own Swanton Bomb (staring at Jeff when he landed.) Vincent grabbed the mic and spoke
“This is going to hurt me than it hurts you, at Genesis, the Righteous will become Impact tag champs. Dig what I’m saying?”
Gia Miller greets us backstage with an interview with TNA Heavyweight Champion Frankie Kazarian. He asked him what is the moment meant to him on a night this big. Kazarian scoffed at the word big saying this is the biggest as Mik Stnana….BUT WAIT A J Styles enter the frame. Kazarian said what did Styles want? A hug, a handshake a kiss. If has anything to say to him about thanks for the house? Styles quietly, derisively said “thanks.”
We come back with a look of TNA from yesteryear with the various ariel moves and characters from days of yore, like Chris Sabin, Styles, Consequences CREED, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels, Petey Williams as it became a historical highlight retrospective on the X-Division.
Rehwoldt called it the signature of TNA Impact. Hannifan hit the catchphrase that it is not about weight limits but all about no limits. We get another look at some of the stars and HEY, Vergil Ortiz, Jr, WBC Interim Junior Middleweight champ is here and a myriad of social media superstars and we get to Eric Young sitting by himself and A J Francis with a few of his friends. We go back to Miller who introduced TNA’s own Hollywood row, including AMC’s Dark Winds’ Kiowa Gordon and Zahn McClarnon, AMC Night Patrol’s RJ Cyler Mara Sade and former WWE women’s champ Candice Michelle.
Before Miller can interview some of the stars, Ryan Nemeth interrupts. Nemeth asked why are they having a Hollywood party without the Hollywood Hunk. They aren’t the big stars; they are on my star. He accosted – who pushed him. Ryan went to jump the barricade but went groin first on the fence. McLendon landed a chop as Ryan slumped to the floor.
We get highlights of last month’s betrayal of Santino Marella by Arianna Grace. That brought out Marella to a good pop and looking far better than last time. He was smiling waiving a burgundy TNA Impact towel given to the fans. He greeted the fans and asked fi this a special night or what. It doesn’t get bigger than that. They’re will be a lot of new yes on TNA but he knows they can handle it because they fought tooth and nail to get here and this is the start of something incredible.
Now, to the matter at hand, he said his mindset is distracted and has been hurt, angry and confused by his own flesh and blood. It is nothing he can shake off like the water off a duck but he has decisions that he has to make for the people in the back and in the stands. The board decided that he needed a little of bit of assistance. Since he is distracted, and this is no time to drop the ball and will help contribute to the product.
We get introduced to Daria Rae – the former Sonya DeVille. Marella wanted to be first to welcome her to TNA. Rae thanked Marella and the crowd. She said Marella was one of the pillars of the organization. Rae said he managed to keep a smile on everyone faces though good times and bad – including hers. They are now standing in the ring. They pause as a “Santino” chant emerged.
The irony of this is that the one thing the company doesn’t need is….Santino. We don’t his jokes or speed walks. We need structure and professionalism, none of which Santino can provide – he can’t even keep his family together. Santino tried to defend himself but Rae told him to shut up because she is talking. The fact is she has been a GM before and handled the egos and can do the job better than him. She is the “Suit” so we should shut up when she is talking. As her first order of business, she signed a new knockout – Elayna Black – formerly Cora Jade, who posed on the rampway.
We see Santana getting ready, but Styles walked into frame. Styles has known Kazarian 20 years and never thought he would say this but Styles wants Santana to kick his glutes. He helped this company as long as he could and how it is Santana’s turn. So, do what Santana does best – win. Santana stood up and said thanks and dapped Styles. Styles said “take him out,” as we get taken out to commercials.
We come back with another look at the stars of Dark Winds but the true star is next. The Personal Concierge welcomed all.He was in the ring with the By Elegance Brand and Perez Hilton and a man in a feathery hooded robe. The personal Concierge introduced Hilton by saying he is a specialist in style and fashion. A pop culture icon and the original influencer. Hilton said he had been to red carpet events and fashion hits and misses and this crowd tonight really brought their game – their “d” game. The crowd booed whilst the Brand laughed at it.
PC asked Hilton what he really thought since Dallas if filled with dirty, degenerate pigs. The crowd roared its disapproval. But, that is not why they are here. The By Elegance Brand will so be crowned TNA Knockout Tag Champs. Additionally, they spent the last couple of months doing research for something new for the brand. After millions of applications and thousands of interviews, they are going to introduce the greatest makeover in pro wrestling history. Without further ado we introduce Mr. Elegance and it is Andreas John Ziegler – AJZ in Ohio Valley Wrestling.
He greets us to AMC (on the back of Ash, M and Heather’s trunks are each letter.) He has gone through an amazing transformation; he points us to the jumbotron screen and does the before and after photo. The before was the stage hand from two weeks ago; naturally, he is the after. Now, we get to look at him so soak it in and look at him.
BUT WAIT, we get the Iinspiration’s music as the champs make their way to the ring. They hit the ring (sans aunt dancing) and M and Heather decided to attack. However, they are met with stereo clotheslines and stereo beat downs. The Brand rolled out of the ring and NOW he Iinspiration STRUCK THE POSE.
TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship: The Iinspiration vs. The By Elegance Brand
We come back with the Iinspirers running the By Elegance Brand into the apron on the floor. McKay dragged Hather into the ring. But Heather reversed an Irish whip by holding on and hitting McKay with a back elbow when she charged. Heather threw McKay into M’s boot in the corner and tagged M. M hit a running big boot in the corner for a two count.
Despite M’s efforts, McKay broke free of M and tagged Lee. M tagged Heather but Lee dropped Heather with a series of clotheslines and a flying knee in the corner. However, after a couple of flying knees, Heather evaded one and Lee crashed into the corner. Heather hit a dragon screw leg whip with Lee draped on the ropes. Heather rolled Lee from the corner and locked a leg lock as Lee screamed and writhed on the floor.
Heather threw Lee into the corner and tagged M. M put the boots to Lee in the corner and then snapmared her out. She verbally accosted McKay and then worked Lee’s leg draped on the corner for a two count. She locked a facelock on Lee. Lee tried for the hope crawl but M pounded away on Lee’s back and drover her knee into the back of Lee. M continued to drive her knee into the back as Hiton was livestreaming it as we hit the commercial break.
We returned with Lee trying to fight out of it and getting a sunset flip form a backdrop reversal. We cut to a Picture in Picture and HEY, Zaria and Sol Ruca are there watching the match on a monitor. Meanwhile, M continued to work the leg and went to the top turnbuckle. However, M’s moonsault got nothing but knees as Lee finally made the hope crawl and tagged McKay.
McKay was a flat on fire as she dropped Heather and M with a series clotheslines and back elbows and forearm smashes. She whipped M into heather in the corner and hit a fluing splash. She threw M out of the ring and hit a Meteora on Heather. A wristlock suplex got two until the Personal Concierge grabbed McKay’s let and dragged her to the floor. McKay chased the PC until the Concierge hid behind Hilton and Ash by Elegance. M snuck behind her but McKay turned around and dropped her.
However, Heather grabbed McKay and dragged her into the ring. The two tried to suplex the other but exchanged a series of kicks, with Heather getting the better of it. She dragged McKay into the corner and tagged M. M started to lock her in the bow and arrow hold as Heather climbed to the top but Lee slugged Heather from the top to the floor. Meanwhile, McKay reversed the hold for a two count. McKay hit a seated kneelift and tagged Lee for a double gourdbuster.
But, Mr. Elegance got on the apron and distracted the referee. The Iinspiration went over to accost Mr. Elegance. The two slapped Mr. Elegance; although, this gave time for the Brand to recuperate. Heather hit McKay and sent Lee to the apron. Heather grabbed McKay but McKay reversed it into a kick by Lee. Lee grabbed Heather and ran her into the knee of McKay. Now, the Personal Concierge got in the ring which got him a hand stomp from Lee and a running knee from McKay.
The Iinspiration grabbed M and set her up for the Iidolizer but Mr. Elegance slid in the ring and leg clipped Lee’s leg. Heather held the ropes and a staggering McKay went to the floor. Meanwhile, M grabbed Lee into a rollup and we have New Tag Team Champions.
Post Match: The entire Brand celebrated in the ring as TNA President Carlos Silva put the belts on the champs. The Brand posed for photos.
We go backstage to Arianna Grace and “Stacks” Lorenzo. Lorenzo said that for weeks Marella wondered who let all the NXT folks into TNA. Grace said he spent a ton of company money on his investigation when it the person right next to him. Lorenzo said Marella has made a litany of bad decisions. Grace said with that came decreased production and work ethic but management has fixed that problem and Rae is going to do a much better job. At TNA: Genesis her “handsome man” will handle anything Marella sends his way and he is going to do it for his little girl. The two snicker as we get something that is no laughing matter.
The BioFlex Injury Report has the victims of “Doomsday” Dani Luna’s attack last week. Harley Hudson and Myla Grace are out but Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee are cleared. “Bulletproof” Steve Maclin is out due to the attack last week by the NXT Outlaws but will return next week. Santana’s arm is still injured but is cleared for the “milestone” main event tonight.
We get commercials, including hype for Night Patrol featuring some actor named Phil Brooks and Cyler, who is here. We go backstage to Indi Hartwell who said TNA: Genesis is right around the corner and since the dog collar match, she has been in limbo but the goal has not changed to fulfill her childhood dream and become TNA Knockouts World Champ.
However, the By Elegance Brand’s celebration continued backstage as they walk into frame. M mocked Hartwell by saying people dream about it and some make it happen. The Personal Concierge said talk to Marella if you want a match but until then – watch her mouth or he’ll send her back home with the Desperation and they can play with the wombats. Ash said that’s enough because they have a celebration to go to and the Brand heads off screen. Hartwell said she will talk to Marella.
We get a historical highlight package on the Knockout Division featuring past and present including Jacqueline Lee, Awesome Kong, Mickie James, and starts now with Lee, Elisha Eswards, Mara Sade, Tessa Blanchard and the By Elegance Brand.
We go back ringside with Marella who introduced Lei Ying Lee, without costume (except for her fan and glasses.) Xia Brookside joined her and they made their way ringside to a sizable pop. Marella said Lee is a fighting champion and signed an open challenge for TNA Genesis. BUT WAIT, we get that power riff and out comes Zaria and Sol Ruca to an equally big pop.
Ruca grabbed the mic and said they were in town to scout the TNA Knockout Championship competition but when she heard the open challenge she had to come out because this is a tremendous opportunity for all of women’s wrestling. It would feel good to bring gold back. She complimented Lee on being a warrior in every aspect. Ruca said the team has a warrior of their own and is why Zaria should be the one to answer the challenge because no one is more worthy than her as a “Zaria” chant emerged. Zaria signed the contract on Marella’s back. Lee and Zaria stared at each other and then shook hands.
We get a similar historical highlight retrospective of TNA world Camps, including Joe Hendry, Styles, Joe, Sting, Moose, Eli Drake, Josh Alexander, Ron Killings, Sabin and Santana. We cut to Santana and Kazarian walking the aisles in different parts of the center.
We cut to earlier in the day in the Center, we see Cedric Alexander looking at his phone as Marella’s walks into frame. Marella said we have some issues with visas and one of the byproducts is Slater will not be available for Genesis, which scraps the X-Division Title Match. Alexander is dejected but Marella reassured him that he will have his match in the future. Meanwhile, for Genesis the three-man match will be now be Alexander, Moose and the guy who Marella cannot say his name because he’ll appear – it does rhyme with Schmoe Jenblee. Alexander said who is he referencing. Marella reiterated it would be him, Moose and…Joe Hendry. They look around the center but we hear his theme on Alexander’s phone and his photo appeared.
We get a rundown of the (revamped) Genesis card; and, we get the System’s chryon and theme. All five members are on the rampway. Alisha has the mic (oh, goody.) Dallas, do you want to know something? The System is on AMC, with another “AMC” chant emerged. Eddie got the mic and said this is something special for them. This company means everything to the System; even right now, with the System going through a lot of changes. With that, comes one final moment that will live in history. The crowd breaks into a “what” chant as Edwards addressed the match with JDC and the Final Dance. JDC wanted everyone to know how much it meant to him to finish his career in TNA. This is the best locker room he’s ever been and he said that from the bottom of his heart. Saturday will be his last match against his best friend. Next week, he will be in the ring – but to announce the newest member of the System. That is next week. He said he loved Eddie like a brother, a man, a wrestler and a father.
But, JDC isn’t going out like a punk. If he doesn’t pull the trigger, JDC will. The five embrace and all five leave.
The main event is next and we get a full highlight retrospective between Santana and Kazarian – and Nic Nemeth’s appearance last week at the signing.
Silva gets an intro from Miller. Silva said we had great show tonight and we have another surprise, a fellow Texan and former TNA owner and President (oh no….) Dixie Carter. The crowd is, well it was 50/50 but quickly denigrated to a series of boos. Carter can’t believe it has been 24 years. From the bottom of the heart, she thanked us for being here and could not be prouder of the locker room and this is an incredible honor.
BUT WAIT, we hear a rocket whistling and we get Bully Ray’s entrance. “Dixie, run!!!” Rehwoldt said. Bubba Ray eyed Carter but shook Silva’s hand. Bubba Ray and Carter stared at each other. Bubba Ray approached her..and hugged her. N’awww. Bubba Ray headed to ringside and to the announce booth with Hannifan and Rehwoldt. The hug was a softer side of Bully Ray, he said. And we get to the main event.
TNA Impact World Title Match: Mike Santana vs. Frankie Kazarian
Santana made his way through the Arena and through he stands. The crowd gave him a huge pop (one security guy and to stop a guy by his hoodie from getting too close.) Kazarian is next and is laser focused as he headed to ringside and into the ring, posing on the ropes with his title.
Santana and Kazarian glared at each other at Mitchell introduced the particulars. Santana roared when his name was called, Kazarian quietly held the title high when his name was called. A huge “Santana” chant emerged as Kazarian went to the floor and grabbed a mic. He understood that this is Dallas and that most of us are used to being disappointed (truth hurts..) He has news for us; they’ll be disappointed to night because he is the only star that matters in Texas.
Another loud “Santana” chant emerged as Kazarian walked around the ring and got in the ring and thought about a sneak attack until he went to the floor again to accost the crowd. Kazarian finally made it to the ring and the bell finally rung. A loud “TNA” chant emerged and Kazarian hit an arm drag from a Santana charge and the champ celebrated. Kazarian did the same move and then attempted a chicken wing until Santana armdragged Kazarian to get out of that. Kazarian managed to evade an early Spin the Block attempt. Santana got the first sustained momentum as he went behind Kazarian and grabbed a headlock. Kazarian sent Santana to the ropes but Santana dropped Kazarian with a shoulderblock.
Santana got an arm drag off a series of criss crosses on the ropes and then hit Kazarian with a back elbow in the corner. He also hit a hurincanrana off the ropes as they ran the ropes. Kazarian hit the floor but Santana hit the turnbuckles and flew over the ropes for a body press on the floor. Kazarian tried to stem the tide by whipping Santana into the barricade around ringside but Santana stopped it and hit a back elbow on the champion.
Kazarian finally stopped the momentum by catching a charging Santana with an overhead suplex on the floor as a loud “Ole, Ole, Ole” chant emerged. Back from break, Santana had regained the advantage on the floor by the rampway and copped away at Kazarian. Kazarian tried to whip Santana into the apron but Santana leapt on the apron and met him with a flying bodypress on the floor as a loud “TNA” chant emerged.
Santana grabbed Kazarian and threw him into the ring. He favored his back but got on the apron for a suplex attempt but Kazarian blocked it and grabbed Santana’s injured arm and violently dropped it on the ropes. Kazarian hit a neckbreaker on the ropes. As Santana was draped on the ropes, Kazarian hit his springboard leg drop for a two count.
Kazarian Picked Santana and threw him into the turnbuckle. Kazarian continued to beat on Santana as a huge “you suck” chant emerged. Kazarian pounded on Santana’s chest with his forearms and ran his knee into Santana’s back. Kazarian hit a chinlock. Santana got to his feet and attempted to fight out of the lock but Kazarian threw Santana to the mat hair first.
Kazarian reapplied the chinlock and cinched it. Santana slumped to the mat and the referee checked on him as the tried and true arm check spot had the same result – Santana kept his arm raised before the third drop. Kazarian continued to beat on the arm and keep the chinlock applied.
Santana tried to fight out of it. A series of chops broke the hold and the two traded go behinds on the ropes. Santana bucked Kazarian off but the Rolling Block 50 attempt was countered into a Backstabber by the champion for a two count. Kazarian started to slap Santana. Santana started to umm…Boricua up and no sold the slaps. Santana rallied with a series of punches and clotheslines. Santana no sold a back elbow from a corner charge and continued to chop away at the champ.
Kazarian again tried to stem the tide by throwing Santana into the corner but Santana reversed that. Kazarian tried to kick Santana when he charged the corner but Santana caught the boot and hit an enziguri. Kazarian hit a forearm off the ropes but Santana responded with a superkick of his own off the ropes. Kazarian, again, went behind Santana and pushed him into the corner but Santana bucked him off and NOW we get the Rolling Block 50 for a two count. Santana had a rueful look as he gazed at the referee.
Santana put Kazarian on the top rope and Santana climbed the turnbuckles. The two fought on the turnbuckles. Kazarian managed to push Santana but Santana landed on his feet and backrolled. He quickly ran and ascended the ropes and hit a top rope Spanish Fly on Kazarian. Santana grabbed Kazarian and after a series of go behinds and reversals, Santana got a two-and-a-fraction from a Code Red.
Kazarian was draped on the corner and Santana attempted a cannonball but Kazarian met him with his knees. Kazarian quickly arose and hit the Angels Wings for a two count. “Someplace, CD is smiling” Bully Ray said. Kazarian stalked the ring and attempted to apply the chicken wing. Santana ran to the ropes and pushed off with his legs for a two count. Santana charged the corner but Kazarian backdropped him. Santana landed on the apron and the two traded punch evasions. Santana evaded a leg drop between the ropes but Kazarian caught Santana and snapped him on the ropes.
Kazarian launched Santana on the ropes and hit the slingshot cutter and the slingshot legdrop for two-and-a-fraction. Kazarian went to the floor, grabbed his title and brought it in the ring. The referee saw the infraction and grabbed the title. This gave Santana time to recuperate and he signaled for the Spin the Block. Kazarian evaded it and got Santana into the Fade to Black. However, Santana reversed it and got a sunset flip for one. The two traded punches but Kazarian landed a boot.
Santana signaled for the Spin the Block once again but Kazarian ducked it. Santana had a discussion with the referee. Kazarian hit a dropkick but the force of it caused a ref bump. The two continued fighting as Santana tried for an Outline in Chalk but Kazarian eyeraked his way out of it and hit a series of kicks to Santana. Kazarian grabbed Santana from behind but Santana reversed it into a Spin the Block but the referee was still down as the crowd counted to 12.
Santana went to check on the referee. This gave Kazarian time to grab the belt (in the corner on the mat) and hit Santana with it. Kazarian went to the apron and hit the Fade to Black. Kazarian rolled Santana into the ring and tried to pin him but got two-and-a-fraction. That woke Santana up as he attempted a powerbomb. Kazarian reversed it into a Canadian Destroyer (La Canadian Destroyer, given Kazarian’s So Cal roots?) However, Santana no sold it and hit the Spin the Block for..the two count. Santana tried it again but Kazarian sort of blocked it but Santana got a two count.
Kazarian went to the other side of the ring and tried for his own Spin the Block but Santana ducked it. Santana pushed Kazarian into the ropes and NOW Santana hit the Spin the Block for the win and the New TNA Impact Heavyweight title.
Post Match: Santana celebrated with the title as Hannifan, Rehwoldt and Bully Ray reminded everyone of the rematch clause for Genesis. The question now is who will be champion after Genesis. For now, Santana is your world Heavyweight Champion.
Impactful Ruminations:
One: Okay…okay…okay. Santana won. As alluded by some, they wanted to redo the change for the AMC debut. Okay, fine. Do not screw this up (at this point I internally sound like Alisha Edwards.) The match was a good showcase for Santana and his talent. Kazarian did a masterful job doing the anti-Superman (Bizarro? Luthor? Metallo?) comebacks. Now, that we have established that, let’s ride this and not screw this up with Nemeth or putting it back on Trick Williams.
Two: The By Elegance Brand winning was the right call since the Iinspiration are stale. The problem now is who will challenge them aside from NXT farming out their teams. I am curious how next week’s match goes between M and Hartwell. M has legit skill.
Three: Until I looked, I thought Mr. Elegance was Bodhi from the old Chase U team from the NXT 2.0 days.
Four: For the good, there is bad. I really liked DeVille as a wrestler and as a GM character. And, given what she has been through, I am glad she is back to a good place an back into wrestling. But, do we need another heel authority figure? This is beyond recycled. Compare this to the job Aldis and Pearce are doing and it just seems like a relic of a role.
Five: Compounding that, Cora Jade? I hope she improved because she didn’t light up the sky on her first go-round. Hopefully, she at least learned to change the cadence when she speaks.
Six: Take Care of Your Visa Issues, kids. It’s a real shame that Slater could not be there for the debut.
Seven: The presentation was really good and for those who are new it gave some sense of history on the show. Although, bringing new faces into the show might take some time, they did a nice job with the historical highlight pieces.
Eight: Ryan Nemeth, certified goof. I was surprised he wasn’t superkick. Why waste a good kick when you see him getting crotched on things – tonight on “Owww, My Balls.”
Nine: Zaria vs. Lee is a good fight but rather would see Ruca vs. Lee.
Ten: Note to TNA Impact, don’t glitch your steaming feed on your first night on a new channel. I was not happy for the first 20 minutes.
Eleven: The Righteous run in was good. I got worried we would get another super prolonged beatdown others might offer but this was short and sweet. The chain and lock was odd but interesting and original.
Twelve: I had to clean my computer of the pear and water when I saw Dixie Carter introduced. That legit scared me on how that might go. Luckily, it was short and sweet and Bully Ray hugged her. Rehwoldt was funny in his comment.
Keep Fighting the Good Fight.
