Scott’s Mailbag – 07.12.25

Once again a roundup of topics in the inbox.

“At the last Evolution, tickets were going slow till the last few days. The same thing is happening now as it’s close to a sellout. Are people just purposely waiting for the last 2/3 days for the tickets to drop in price or are people just not interested in a all women’s PPV?”

I don’t know what your definition of a sellout is, but they had to reduce the arena from 15,000 to 7500 for seating and they’re still only at 6500 as of last count. They’re nowhere near selling out and it’s probably because WWE is paying no attention to this show and just using it as a way to create more noise on the weekend.

“How many run ins are we expecting for the Texas death match? Over/under 16 people?

And the runtime? 1100 local time over/under?”

Show starts at noon CST so I don’t see them going to midnight, no. Hopefully they have all the blood and run-ins and weapons because THIS would be the match where they should do it.

With the small potential of AJ Lee showing up in some capacity this weekend at Evolution, i am curious how folks view her today. In my opinion, and alot of the female wrestlers themselves will say, there is no womens revolution or horsewomen without her. She changed the landscape as far as what a female wrestler had to look like and how they had to wrestle, and how far up the card they could go. I would argue since Trish and Lita she is the most important women in wwe history, and in womens wrestling in general. And this is far more of a topic than just was she a great wrestler, which i think she was, but more so about her overall impact on womens wrestling in NA in general. I would argue she has a spot on the Mount Rushmore of womens wrestling, especially in WWE. What say you and the blog.

LOL what? No. I don’t even see the argument for top 20. She didn’t have longevity, or a memorable big defining match, or even experience in a variety of promotions.

Hello,

I like the idea behind the AEW Casino Battle Royal, and how it tweaked the Royal Rumble into their own unique take with the early numbers meaning more. However, for the stip to actually mean something, does there need to be one of them where it ends quick with only 2 or 3 entrants in, to really sell the “can end early” threat of the match? Seems like a cheat for the fans cuz some of the advertised entrants don’t get into the match, but ending quick would make the wrestlers who earned the #1 or #2 seed seem like the smart ones after all…and it’s not like AEW PPVs couldn’t use some shorter matches for overall length…

I agree. I think ending it early would be a nice twist that something like the Rumble couldn’t pull off. And if anything, someone like MJF doing that would be the guy to pull it off.

Scott,

I hope you and your family are doing well.

Is Adrian Adonis one of the most unusual pushes in that era? Adonis is off the radar for most of 1985 and then gets traded from Bobby Heenan to Jimmy Hart. Adrian gets what appears to be a Vince McMahon punishment gimmick but then three months later Vince gives Adrian the most important 2-3 minutes of TV time each week and working on a program on top with Hulk Hogan.

Also, I enjoy the Spectrum reviews from the Era. Is Maple Leaf Gardens also available, as there is a March card with Andre the Giant and The Funks? This may have been one of the last times Andre looked happy in the ring.

Adonis was definitely being punished by Vince. I think in Vince’s mind he was punishing Adonis even more by featuring him in such a prominent role every week.

As for the Toronto idea, I’ll check with my sources.
