The Wrestlemania 42 Story
By Scott Keith on 4 June 2025
I'm not sure when, if ever, we get the full confirmed story on the WM42 City change. The money, the perks, the story of a concert scheduled in NOLA being an issue, etc. etc. It should be no surprise to anyone that TKO would follow the most money at this point, and it could result in Wrestlemanias following the Superbowl trend of being hosted by the same 4-6 cities for the foreseeable future. I re-visited this years this week, just had it in the background, as i kinda already forgot what even happened. I just remember the main event being crap. Now with a return to Vegas, and your WM8 (one of my personal favorites) redo on the horizon, it struck me. I'm Modern Wrestlemania burnt out.
I used to looooove being more excited for the stage and stadium setup than the matches. Now, 2020 excluding, it's becoming more of a distraction watching. There are lights EVERYWHERE! The giant metal rig of whatever above the ring looks like the Matrix descending onto the ring and just looks more excessive than impressive. Outdoors or indoors, the aura of an epic night time main event is barely there, if at all. Now even the entrances to interfere in a match are as big as anything else on the event.
Now more than ever, i'm longing for the hue of a dome that is the most light in the building. When the camera angle is just right where i just see the heads of the front rows . Where when i saw big shots of the crowd, i'm not constantly wondering how annoying it must be sitting in multiple sections and a random spotlight goes by me, or is just left on me all night. And now the magic of applauding or critiquing the creative is nearly gone. It doesn't matter for the most part. It sells out. It gets the views. They make the money. How many super bowls of the same 2 teams would it take before anyone in the NFL actually lost money?
FlaskandStein rant that didn't really accomplish anything, and i thank you for your time.
