Evening Daily News Update – May 28th, 2025

By Garth Holmberg on 28 May 2025

FROM THE PAGES OF THE BOD MAGAZINE, HERE’S UPDATE!

Good evening, doomers. It’s Wednesday and you know what that means! We’ve got AEW Dynamite and all the fallout from Double or Nothing. Mercedes Mone and Adam Page won their respective Owen Hart Tournaments to earn title opportunities at All In on July 12th. We can all hope for Jon Moxley to drop the AEW Title, but I’m still in the camp of “wait for Darby Allin to come back” since that was where it looked like the story was going earlier this year. If you’re not down with Dynamite, WWE Evolve is available on Tubi.

Johnny Ace, Professional Snitch
John Laurinaitis was recently dropped from Janel Grant’s ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE in exchange for evidence. That doesn’t clear Johnny from wrongdoings, but it does clear him from being prosecuted, so a win is a win for him. We’re all taking bets how quickly it will take for the Orange Goblin of the United States to pardon Vince from his decades of abuse.

The Story of The Hall of Pain
Tonight’s YouTube Feature from WWE Vault is the compilation highlighting Mark Henry’s Hall of Pain from 2011. I was mostly checked out of WWE at the time, so whenever they do these compilations, it’s a nice window into the era to help me catch up on some of the major storylines.

IN THE WORLD OF SPORTS…
Lock the doggy in the barn, cause here comes Dodgeball action as the shirts continue to dominate the skins today. In schoolyard fights, the highly anticipated fight between Kearney and Mr. Largo ended in a Disqualification for use of dog-doo on a stick.

RIP New York Knicks. You’re one game from elimination and yours truly will be forced into using a ridiculous user name as part of a wager with some cranky Indiana Pacers fan. The OKC Thunder are looking to close out the WCF against Minnesota. They’ll have three chances to get one victory, but the way the series has played out, I don’t think they will need more than the one.

The Colorado Rockies loss last night not only pushed their 2025 record to 9-46, but also clinched the 21st consecutive series loss, a new Major League record. We’re all looking forward to the Rockies march towards history. Miami Marlins second basemen Ronny Simon made news by committing 3 errors (and at first credited with a fourth) in the first 3 innings of yesterday’s game against the Padres before being benched. Simon’s emotion left on the field was the big takeaway and it was nice to see support from the Marlins and Padres organization.

The Florida Panthers have another chance to close the coffin lid on the Carolina Hurricanes with Game 5 taking place at the PNC Arena. Now that the Hurricanes secured a victory, all the fun in the series is gone and now it’s just another gentleman’s sweep instead of extending a losing streak. The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 to take a 3-1 series lead and will look to finish up their series tomorrow night.

AUTHOR APPRECIATION…

You know the drill. Keep it clean and come out dooming. – GH
