Hogan-Hansen feud?

Seeing that Hogan-Hansen match (watched it for the first time in years after reading your rant on it), it's well known now (though not then) that Hogan and Hansen were on pretty good terms- Hansen was even in “No Holds Barred.” I always feel like it was a missed opportunity that Hansen never another run in the WWF after the Backlund feud in '81; we all love Earthquake, and I realize Hansen always prioritized his Japan bookings first (with the money he made over there, I don't blame him), but imagine Hansen coming in and taking Hogan out post-WM6 and whipping the shit out of Hogan with the bullrope… would have been better than that lame US title run he had in WCW, Then Earthquake is free to go after Warrior instead of a lukewarm Rick Rude, and Summerslam '90 could have Warrior-Earthquake and Hogan-Hansen.

I just can’t see Vince taking middle aged Hansen seriously as a potential contender. Like if Brody had lived he could have easily slotted into that role, but I don’t think Hansen would fit.
