If Bret Hart had taken the WCW deal in 1996, what kind of impact would that have had on pro wrestling? In that alternate reality would he have just been wasted talent that much earlier?
We’d all be denied the awesome Hart Foundation run; Austin denied that one great feud to really take over the wrestling world, and Vince denied screwjob to push him towards Mr. Mahon.
I went down a YouTube rabbit hole and saw that old RAW clip where Bret announced he was staying when it was so easy to jump. So goddamn loyal and he really did end up the most screwed out of all the players.
Yup. And yeah, I think Bret would have just been wasted talent and wouldn’t have been able to get past the Hogan ceiling. I think ultimately WWF would have passed them anyway with Steve Austin and the Rock.
