Different approaches for the Rumble

Hiya Scott
Actually thought the men's rumble this year was one of the best in a long time, purely because it was so hard to guess who would win – and even with that, most people guessed wrongly. That sense of genuine unpredictability made it genuinely compelling where it's fallen short in some recent years due to feeling super obvious in advance. It's also why the women's rumble DIDN'T stick the landing this year – as soon as Charlotte rocked up, you knew she was winning. If they'd gone with the super unexpected and let Roxanne Perez get a huge underdog moment, for instance, it would have just woken the whole place up.
But now trying to think of things they've not done before for the future – what do you think of the following possibilities?
A) All 30 entrants get in before anyone gets eliminated (unless this has happened at some point, but I don't think so?)
B) A dastardly heel comes in, to the shock of everyone, as Number 31
C) A MITB cash-in on a US/IC champ, rather than a world champ, in the middle of the Rumble
D) A Rumble where the whole 'theme' of the match (and associated promotion) is that anyone who's held one of the main titles (WWE/Heavyweight/World/whatever) is ineligible to enter – but it's all guys who are midcard-to-upper midcard it's the “New Stars” Rumble where the unpredictability factor is through the roof because there are about 15 people who could feasibly win it?
E) A genuine invasion angle where wrestlers from another promotion (let's say TNA) gang on up on a bunch of midcarders and steal their entries somehow, and then form a collective in the ring for a spell until they're fought off?
And what other ideas have the comments types got? 🙂
I like D a lot. “A” has definitely never been done before and would just render the whole thing into a battle royale anyway. “C” is yet another idea that would freshen up the briefcase that they'll never bother to do.
