Honky Tonk Man

A pal of mine is an indy wrestler and has a bunch of Honky Tonk Man stories from when Honky would pass through town as the featured attraction, well after Honky's glory days. Here's one. When Honky was in town, he always had a guy, Silent George, as his assistant. At intermission, Honky would take polaroids with fans for $20 – Honky's camera and film, and George taking the photos. One show, Honky's doing pretty good polaroid business. About halfway through intermission, a fan comes back and says that his polaroid isn't developing…it's just blank. Honky says (this works better if you imagine his accent) “Give it time…give it time.” A bit later, a second fan comes back with the same complaint. “Give it time…give it time.” When a third fan comes back, also unhappy, Honky turns to his assistant and says “George, start the car.”
That’s Honky for ya. You can’t say the man didn’t know how to be a worker.
