New Gen What If

By Scott Keith on 18 November 2024

Got 2k24 recently and am booking a version of the New Gen era that we almost got it, and basically it seems like if a couple things went differently, that run of time could have really been drastically better. I have a huge soft spot for it as I was young,
but still.
Anyways, the changes are Flair stays, Mr Perfect is healthy enough to continually go, Savage doesn't pseudo retire and Luger stays heel.
In terms of feuds we didn't really get, perhaps a Bret vs Perfect round 2, Savage vs Michaels, Razor vs Flair and all sorts of other, to me at least, fun things we didn't get.
Am I wrong or did we get one of the worst versions of 93 to 95 WWF?

Kind of yeah, but the thing is that Flair wasn't gonna stay no matter what. He was already checked out after Summerslam 92 and wanted to go home to WCW. Same with Perfect, who was clearly just doing a short-term return for the money and as a favor to Vince, not because of any great desire to work full-time as top babyface. Luger, same thing, he was there 100% for the money and didn't give a shit. That being said, had Vince really leaned into Randy Savage as a top guy again and just let Bret Hart be Bret Hart without micromanaging him, things certainly would have been better. There were just too many moving parts to overcome, I think.
