With ECW back in the news again due to the NXT show, who did you think was gonna become a big name when they left ECW but never reached that potential? For me it was Taz and Mike Awesome. Taz was basically ECWs Goldberg and I know, the height deal but in the era of The Radicals, Mysterio ect. I don't think the height was really a factor plus he still looked intimidating as hell. The neck injury I guess? Also teenage me was blown out of his mind seeing a guy the size of Mike Awesome doing topes yet he had stints with both big companies and nothing. I also thought Francine could've been something.
Awesome could have been something but got booked into oblivion by both WCW and then WWE for whatever reason. The main problem was that he didn't have a lot of natural charisma as a character, I think, but bookers have been getting around for decades before he came along so I dunno.
With Taz, Paul Heyman's specialty was booking around weaknesses and making limited guys look like killers, and Taz benefited from that.
