By Michael Fitzgerald on 24 January 2024
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
We’re continuing on with booking Shotgun. If you’ve been following these then I hope you’re enjoying them, and if you’d like to get up to date on previous editions you can do so by checking the archives. I will post a recap of last week’s show down below the break line as well.
Hopefully ya’ll have some fun whilst we book some Shotgun!
Last week on Shotgun;
Matt and Jeff Hardy teamed up with Godfather and D-Lo Brown to defeat Skull, 8-Ball, Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor when D-Lo pinned Skull
WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels forced Tiger Ali Singh into a Martial Arts weapons match with Steve Blackman
Al Snow clobbered Val Venis with The Head to pick up a surprising win
Droz and Prince Albert defeated The Road Warriors in a Street Fight to win that feud
And with you all brought up to speed, let’s move on to this week’s show!
This taping took place on the 29th of March 1999 from East Rutherford, New Jersey

So we’re back to a three show taping this week, which might limit who I can and can’t use depending on who is due to appear on Raw. Anyway, let’s get to this week’s episode of Shotgun!
Show Intro
We get the opening credits and then the announce team run us through what we can expect to see on tonight’s edition of Shotgun.

Segment 1
The Big Boss Man Vs Val Venis
Venis lost a match against Al Snow last week, so he’s looking to get himself back to winning ways against Boss Man, who doesn’t have much going on at the moment until he starts competing for the Hardcore Title later in the year. As a result, Venis gets to go over here by coming off the top with the Money Shot, but we’ll have him snap Boss Man’s neck on the top rope first so that Boss Man has a bit of an out for losing as it won’t be 100% clean.
8 Minutes Total for Segment. 6 Minutes for the match. 2 Minutes for Entrances
9 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 2
Sunday Night HeAT Recap
This is a segment reserved for recapping the notable events of the most recent episode of HeAT, seeing as this is a weekend syndicated show at the end of the day, whilst Raw and HeAT are the main two shows of the week. This segment exists not only to recap the previous episode of HeAT but also as a way to hype up and advertise any matches or segments that have been announced for the next episode.
2 Minutes for Segment
11 Minutes total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 3
Lance Diamond and Kevin Starr Vs The Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge)
TPE were doing a character that somewhat mirrored real life, whereby no one in the WWF wanted them there. However, I see no point in burying them here, so lets have them pick up a win here against Diamond and Starr. TPE can go over clean in a squash and then they can put the enhancement guys through a table post-match in their usual manner.
4 Minutes Total for Segment (2 Minutes for the match, 1 Minute for the entrance, 1 Minute for the post-match)
15 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 4
Monday Night Raw Recap
This is a segment reserved for recapping the notable events of the most recent episode of Raw, seeing as this is a weekend syndicated show at the end of the day, whilst Raw and HeAT are the main two shows of the week. This segment exists not only to recap the previous episode of Raw but also as a way to hype up and advertise any matches or segments that have been announced for the next episode.
2 Minutes Total for Segment
17 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 5
Backstage interview segment with Dr. Death Steve Williams and Michael Cole
This is a segment designed for Williams to get across his tough guy credentials, with Williams calling back to his success in Japan and elsewhere around the world. However, as the promo progresses, Mideon of the Ministry comes over and talks some smack to Dr. Death, leading to a pull-apart brawl between the two of them that referees and agents have to break up. This issue might need to be settled in the ring!

19 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 6
Pay Per View Centre
This is where we let Dok Hendrix hype up the upcoming pay per view. If any matches are already announced then he can hype them here, and if we’re still waiting for any of the real meat of the pay per view to be advertised then we can look back at previous events in order to pad the segment out.

21 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 7
Droz and Prince Albert Vs The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff)
Both of these teams are coming off wins the previous week, with Droz/Albert winning their feud with The Road Warriors. However, The Hardyz still have a simmering issue with Too Much (Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor) and that proves to be their undoing here, as Too Much head down to ringside to cost their rivals the match. Following the bout, it looks like the four Heels are going to put a clobbering on the poor Hardyz, but they find salvation in the unlikely form of The Public Enemy, who help The Hardyz clear the ring. Why are TPE helping out the youngsters here, and will The Hardyz appreciate it considering how reviled TPE are in the WWF locker room?
10 Minutes Total For Segment (6 Minutes for the match, 2 Minutes for entrances, 2 Minutes for the post-match)
31 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 8
Live Event Centre
This is where Dok Hendrix hypes up the next big event coming to YOUR local area. So it’s a long day for the poor sod in the recording booth, but we need to slip that stuff in on the syndicated show.
1 Minute for Segment
32 Minutes Total for Taping out of an available 45
Segment 9
Video package recapping the feud between Tiger Ali Singh and Steve Blackman
This is where we get a look at the incidents in the feud between these two wrestlers, as Tiger has been escaping a well-deserved butt kicking from Blackman for weeks on end, with Tiger even managing to sneak a cheap win over Blackman two weeks ago. Tiger thought that victory would put The Lethal Weapon in his rear view mirror. However, Commissioner Michaels had other plans and booked another match for this week’s edition of Shotgun. In this contest, Martial Arts weapons will be hanging from poles in each corner (BRO!) and wrestlers can climb the pole in order to bring the weapons into play. Will Blackman finally be able to give Tiger the beating the fans all want to see?

Segment 10
Martial Arts Weapons Match
Tiger Ali Singh Vs Steve Blackman
This match has a pole set up in each corner, with a Martial Arts weapon on each pole. One has a Singapore Cane, one has some nun-chucks, one has some escrima sticks and the final one has some tonfa’s on it. The match quickly finds it’s way to a certain formula, which sees Blackman getting to the weapons first but then throwing them to Tiger so that he can come at an un-armed Blackman with them. However, though it might seem that Blackman is handing Tiger the keys of Blackman’s own destruction, it’s actually the opposite. Blackman may have knowledge on how to use the weapons, but Tiger doesn’t, and the result is that Blackman easily disarms Tiger on each occasion and then batters his opponent with each weapon whilst Tiger gradually gets turned to goo. Tiger does briefly manage to get a little bit of heat on his rival, but Blackman is soon making the comeback before finishing Tiger off with a running Pump Kick. Blackman looks to leave following the bout, but decides to head back to the ring for one more attack, as he slams the Singapore Cane right into the crotch of Tiger, leaving the arrogant Heel screaming in agony in the middle of the ring. Satisfied that the matter is closed, Blackman salutes the crowd and leaves to cheers whilst Tiger receives medical assistance as Shotgun comes to a close.

End of Show
And that’s another long running feud finally brought to a close, with Blackman getting the win and the final exclamation point to settle things between He and Tiger. The question is, where will Tiger go now that he’s been so thoroughly defeated and humiliated? I guess we’ll have to tune in next week to find out. This feud probably went on for too long, but that was partly down to Blackman getting double booked on some tapings and me having to find alternative ways to keep the feud going without having Blackman work twice or thrice on a TV taping. This is always going to be an issue though when you’re booking someone like a Blackman who will get booked on Raw quite a bit against someone like Tiger who is usually wrestling exclusively on the syndicated shows.
We’ve kept the Too Much and Hardyz feud going, and we’ll look to keep building on that over the coming weeks, whilst also looking to start some new feuds and storylines. I’m actually quite interested in having The Public Enemy as part of the show, although I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to use them for. Hopefully I can get them on the show as much as I can before they get given their papers and head back to WCW.
Hopefully I’ll see you all next week for more Shotgun!
