Happy Wednesday Everyone!
We’re continuing on with booking Shotgun. If you’ve been following these then I hope you’re enjoying them, and if you’d like to get up to date on previous editions you can do so by checking the archives. I will post a recap of last week’s show down below the break line as well.
Hopefully ya’ll have some fun whilst we book some Shotgun!
Last week on Shotgun;

Droz and Prince Albert accepted the challenge of The Road Warriors for a match the following week
Edge and Christian got a win over Al Snow and Road Dogg thanks to their stablemate Gangrel getting involved
X-Pac got a win over Test despite Shane McMahon trying to cost the D-X member the bout
And with you all brought up to speed, let’s move on to this week’s show!

Segment 1
Tiger Ali Singh Vs The Godfather
This one will be mostly character work and playing to the crowd, owing to neither of these guys being especially good in-ring performers. Godfather is usually over with the crowd due to having his bevvy of attractive ladies with him if nothing else, so hopefully this bout will have some atmosphere to it in order to masque the fact that the actual wrestling might not be easy on the eyes. Tiger cost Steve Blackman a match last week, so Steve Blackman gets him back this week, coming down with his Singapore cane and distracting Tiger long enough in order for Godfather to get a cheeky roll-up for the three count.
Tiger flees from Blackman following the bout, whilst a grateful Godfather asks his ladies to dance with a bemused Blackman, who eventually gives in to the rhythm briefly much to Godfather’s (and hopefully the crowd’s) amusement. Godfather is supposed to be working a dark match before Raw with Test, but I’ll ask if that can be pulled. If not, then the crowd will just have to get Godfather twice tonight. As Godfather won’t actually be appearing on TV for the showing of Raw, I think they’ll agree to pull the match if I actually have a TV role for Godfather instead.

Sunday Night HeAT Recap
This is a segment reserved for recapping the notable events of the most recent episode of HeAT, seeing as this is a weekend syndicated show at the end of the day, whilst Raw and HeAT are the main two shows of the week. This segment exists not only to recap the previous episode of HeAT but also as a way to hype up and advertise any matches or segments that have been announced for the next episode.

Segment 3
Pre-Tape Segment with Tiger Ali Singh and Shane McMahon
Shane is prepping for his match later on in the show, when Tiger barges in furious about what just happened, demanding that Shane do something about it. Shane at first tries to shoo Tiger away so he can continue preparing for his own match, but when Tiger refuses to leave, Shane gets frustrated and books Tiger against Blackman for next week, much to Tiger’s chagrin.

Monday Night Raw Recap
This is a segment reserved for recapping the notable events of the most recent episode of Raw, seeing as this is a weekend syndicated show at the end of the day, whilst Raw and HeAT are the main two shows of the week. This segment exists not only to recap the previous episode of Raw but also as a way to hype up and advertise any matches or segments that have been announced for the next episode.

Segment 5
Shane McMahon and Chyna w/ Test Vs Lou Marconi and Sean Casey
Marconi and Casey are due to be working a dark match before Raw, but I’ll grab them for this segment as well, as it’s not like they’ll be out there that long. Honestly they might just ending up being solely in this segment, which does mean they get paid at least as they’ll be on TV. Prior to the match, Shane grabs a mic and cuts a cocky promo telling X-Pac to pay attention so he can see what’s going to happen to him at WrestleMania. The match itself will be pretty straightforward, with Chyna holding her own with the enhancement guys just fine, whilst Shane will only really be able to do anything when the two opponents have already been softened up. Test can also get a few licks of his own in whilst the referee isn’t looking, and eventually Chyna flattens one of the enhancement guys so that Shane can get the pin and act like superman. Just a simple cheesy way to get some heat on Shane for being an arrogant jerk who thinks he’s better than he really is, when in reality it’s actually the wrestlers he associates with that are carrying him.

Pay Per View Centre
This is where we let Dok Hendrix hype up the upcoming pay per view. If any matches are already announced then he can hype them here, and if we’re still waiting for any of the real meat of the pay per view to be advertised then we can look back at previous events in order to pad the segment out.

Segment 7
Too Much (Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor) Vs The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff)
Too Much haven’t featured that much recently as they were getting booked on HeAT a lot as partners for The DOA. However, they’re free this week, so we’ll stick them in the ring with The Hardyz in the interest of possibly starting something up between the two teams. We’ll give them a reasonable chunk of time to work with and let them have a competitive match, with The Hardyz getting another step closer to credibility as actual stars on the roster as opposed to slightly-protected enhancement talent, by picking up the clean win after a back and forth contest. This should hopefully be an enjoyable match that will help The Hardyz without also hindering Too Much at the same time.

Segment 8
Live Event Centre
This is where Dok Hendrix hypes up the next big event coming to YOUR local area. So it’s a long day for the poor sod in the recording booth, but we need to slip that stuff in on the syndicated show.

Segment 9
Droz and Prince Albert Vs The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal)
I’ve been putting off a match between these two teams somewhat as Droz always seemed to be getting booked on either Raw or HeAT, and I generally try not to double book wrestlers on these shows if they’re already wrestling elsewhere on the taping. However, we’re at the point now where we can’t really delay this match any further and Droz is only wrestling for a minute on Raw in a crummy match with Steve Blackman, so I think I can get away with him coming out and working a longer match on Shotgun first.
For the backstory, Droz had worked his way into LOD 2000 with his eventual plan being to usurp and replace Hawk as Animal’s partner in order to advance his career. However, Hawk and Animal reunited with designs for revenge, so Droz recruited Albert from developmental in order to back him up, thus leading to this feud. As one could imagine, there is a lot of hatred between the two teams here, leading to a match that quickly degenerates into a wild brawl. Eventually things get so out of hand that the referee has to throw the match out. The premature conclusion to the bout doesn’t really slow either tandem down much though; as they continue to fight until The Road Warriors are able to clear the ring. Droz and Albert back off following that whilst a gaggle of officials and agents try to stand between the two warring duos. We didn’t get a finish tonight, but this feud is far from over.

End of Show
We had a reasonably focused show this week, with most of that focus going on the in-ring matches, with just the one additional angle between Tiger and Shane so that we could set up a match for next week. Tiger Ali Singh Vs Steve Blackman, along with Droz and Albert Vs The Road Warriors, are unlikely to be feuds that will make people rush to the ticket office, but they make use of guys like Tiger and The Road Warriors who are hardly ever on Raw, whilst also giving more regular Raw stars like Blackman and Droz something to do.
We might see more double booking going on for the time being, as we’re getting to a stage where I need to start getting these folks in the ring with one another. I’m wary of these feuds starting to drag, especially during the Attitude Era when crowds notoriously had shorter attention spans to begin with, and that’s before you get into the likely fact that this is the syndicated show and there’s a good chance that a lot of the folks who show up to watch HeAT/Raw might not even be following the Shotgun storylines to begin with.
Shane McMahon is hardly going to be a weekly character on Shotgun (although this is the second week in a row that he showed up), so having him and Chyna make a cameo this week added something a bit different to the show whilst also doing some hype for Shane’s feud with X-Pac. I expect we’ll see Too Much and The Hardyz facing off more than once as time goes on (and indeed they’ve wrestled before), so watch this space in that regard. It’s Tiger Ali Singh Vs Blackman next week, and we’ll do something to keep the Droz/Albert Vs Road Warriors feud going as well in preparation for an eventual resolution to the feud.
Hopefully I’ll see you all next week for more Shotgun!
