Vince McMahon, Roddy Piper, and Randy Savage are in the booth for the last show of the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada taping cycle.
Opening Contest: The Big Bossman (33-0-1) defeats Martin Roy after the Bossman Slam at 2:39:
McMahon and Piper bring Savage up to speed on the Bossman-Irwin R. Schyster feud because Savage has been gone for the last few weeks. In the split screen, IRS tells the Bossman that he controls the scales of justice. The Bossman destroys Roy to continue his long winning streak, handcuffing him to the middle rope after the match.
Gene Okerlund’s Update segment announces that Survivor Serieswill take place on Wednesday, November 27. The main event will be WWF Champion Hulk Hogan defending his title in “The Gravest Challenge” against the Undertaker. The Undertaker and Paul Bearer warn Hogan that he has no idea what he is getting himself into. Hogan rebuts with a weird promo about how he conceptualizes their threat as if they are burying a baby or first grader alive. He promises to stop the Undertaker and Bearer before that happens.
The Beverly Brothers (w/the Genius) (13-0) defeat Ross Greenberg & Phil Apollo when Beau pins Apollo after the Shaker Heights Spike at 2:40:
The Bushwhackers recite a fun poem in an insert promo about how they are going to lick and bite “the Beverly Sisters” en route to shutting the door on them. The Beverlys destroy Apollo with a few suplexes and finish him with the Shaker Heights Spike.
A new Tito Santana vignette announces that his training is over. A big party takes place in his hometown in his honor. Before he gets back to the WWF, though, he must face the bull.
Jake Roberts’ squash two weeks ago on Prime Time Wrestling airs. Savage wants to go after Roberts, but McMahon reminds him that he cannot make physical contact with anyone because of his probation and contractual obligations.
The British Bulldog (31-2-1) pins Paul Perez after the running powerslam at 2:52:
McMahon tells Piper and Savage that they need to chill out about their respective issues with WWF talent, noting that he has a knot on his back because of all of the craziness happening in recent weeks. When Piper says that Perez is not doing much, Savage says Perez could be one of the greatest wrestlers in Mexico behind Tito Santana, but the Bulldog is so good fans cannot see it. McMahon then corrects Savage and says that is not possible because Perez is from Yugoslavia. The Bulldog runs through his usual offense, keeping him strong as a special attraction for the WWF’s tour of Europe.
Bobby Heenan interviews Ric Flair. Flair questions if WWF Champion Hulk Hogan has the guts to face him. With regards to Piper, Flair says not to doubt him because he will soon possess the WWF Championship.
Jim Neidhart (2-0) pins Barry Hardy after the Anvil Flattener in 37 seconds:
In the split screen, Busick and Wippleman say Neidhart must have an anvil for a brain if he wants to mess with them. Neidhart blocks Hardy’s effort to get a boot up on a blind charge, back suplexes him, and does the Anvil Flattener for a quick win.
Skinner (5-0) pins Joe Milano after the inverted DDT at 1:14:
Skinner refuses Milano’s handshake and then blasts him from behind when Milano gloats to the crowd. In the split screen, the Dragon does another ridiculous deep voice promo about how Skinner will end up charred and burned when he is done with him. A Pedigree leaves Milano vulnerable to the inverted DDT to continue building Skinner for his house show feud with the Dragon.
Tune in next week to see Sid Justice face El Diablo! Also. the Natural Disasters, Jake Roberts, and Ric Flair in action! And Hacksaw Jim Duggan will be a guest on the Funeral Parlor!
The Last Word: Most of this show built the midcard feuds for the fall house show circuit but the big announcement was the Survivor Series main event. Hulk Hogan facing the Undertaker was an intriguing matchup and the Undertaker is easily Hogan’s toughest opponent this year. However, the booking of that match does not follow logically from the company’s storylines as Hogan has an ongoing war of words with Ric Flair and the Undertaker, as of a week ago, was in a program with Sid Justice. This would give the impression that the WWF was wanting to postpone televised Hogan-Flair matches until later, but sometimes striking when the iron was hot was the preferred way to go and that may have been the case here.
