Sean Mooney and Bobby Heenan are tonight’s hosts.
Opening Contest: Skinner (4-0) beats Koko B. Ware (6-8) after the inverted DDT at 3:15:
This bout took place at the Superstars tapings in Rochester, New York on August 19. Skinner gets some heat from the kids by trying to go after Frankie, an action befitting of his character. Ware is squashed by the newcomer, scoring no significant hope spots or near-falls. A blind charge allows Skinner to finish with the inverted DDT.
Gene Okerlund’s Update segment recaps the events of the Randy Savage-Elizabeth wedding reception and replays the promos from Jake Roberts, the Undertaker, Paul Bearer, and Sid Justice from Superstars.
The Bushwhackers’ squash from Wrestling Challenge airs.
The Rockers come into the studio, saying that they have recently finished a tour of Japan and brought back some new tricks to the WWF. Shawn Michaels calls out the Nasty Boys, arguing that the Rockers are looking to knock them back down after SummerSlam. Michaels argues that anyone can be a Rocker. To test that hypothesis, Heenan gets Lord Alfred Hayes and tells them to turn him into one. The Rockers accept Heenan’s challenge and take Hayes backstage.
The Barbarian (7-6-1) pins Ron Cumberledge after a Mafia kick at 2:41:
The Barbarian has not been seen since he lost to Bret Hart on SummerSlam Spectacular. This squash showcases his power and Cumberledge bumps well for him.
Footage of the Nasty Boys-Legion of Doom match from SummerSlam is shown.
Ted DiBiase and Sensational Sherri are the next guests. DiBiase is at a loss for words about his loss at SummerSlam while Sherri screams about it.
Virgil (15-0) beats Bubba Monroe via submission to the Million Dollar Dream at 2:35:
In the split screen, DiBiase and Sherri talk about how Virgil does not know how to handle wealth. Virgil tells the camera that DiBiase will have to kill him to get the Million Dollar Championship Belt back. He uses some basic moves to ground Monroe and submits him with the Million Dollar Dream.
In the studio, Sherri is crying about SummerSlam and DiBiase complains about the restart at SummerSlam that resulted in his defeat. He complains that WWF President Jack Tunney refused to reverse the referee’s decision and tells Virgil to bask in his victory because it will be short lived.
Heenan rips up the WWF Magazine that Jamison was reading in the audience.
The Undertaker’s squash from Superstars is shown.
Fans are treated to a clip from Hulk Hogan’s new blockbuster Suburban Commando.
The Rockers try to teach Hayes how to “Woo” at women, but he is not smooth with it.
Footage is shown of the Mountie being taken to jail after SummerSlam.
The Big Bossman (31-0-1) beats Colonel Mustafa (w/General Adnan) (13-1) with a spinebuster at 5:07:
Like the opener, this match also took place in Rochester, New York on August 19. Adnan appears to have finally outrun the Ultimate Warrior to accompany Mustafa to the ring for matches again. Gorilla Monsoon must hate Mustafa because he takes jabs at him throughout the bout, bashing Mustafa’s weight in saying that the three medals he wears to the ring are for “Breakfast, lunch, and dinner” and laughing at his full nelson attempt, which he says carries no power because Mustafa is not tall enough. It takes three and a half minutes to get the action going. Mustafa uses a loaded boot to put the Bossman in a compromising position, but the Bossman easily reverses a suplex and quickly wins with a spinebuster. After the match, the Bossman goes to handcuff Mustafa, but Adnan provides a distraction that allows his charge to roll out of the ring. Rating: ¼*
Sid Justice is the next guest. He tells the Undertaker and Jake Roberts that they had better be ready to step into the ring with him. Heenan makes the mistake of calling Sid a pansy. In response, Sid rips off his shirt and Heenan runs for cover into the crowd.
Hercules (w/Slick) (1-1) wrestles Greg Valentine (18-6-1) to a double count out at 3:45:
This bout, also from Rochester, is a great illustration of how low Valentine has fallen on the card as he cannot even beat a lower card tag team wrestler. He floors Hercules with some strikes but gets distracted by Slick before he can lock in the figure-four. That leads to Hercules knocking him to the floor and the two brawl out there for a cop out double count out. Rating: DUD
The Warlord’s squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown.
Replays of Ric Flair’s comments on last week’s show and Okerlund’s interview with WWF Champion Hulk Hogan on Superstars are shown. Heenan swears that Hogan does not want to face Flair.
The Orient Express (9-4-1) defeat Duane Gill & Barry Hardy when Kato pins Hardy after a back suplex at 4:04:
As noted before, the Express have become a forgotten team in the division, not teaming up in more than a month. They struggle against their jobber foes, with Gill and Hardy doing a Sidewinder to Tanaka and Hardy slingshotting Gill into the ring for a splash for a one count. Kato drives Gill’s head into the apron to turn the tide and when Hardy tags in he is dominated. Tanaka thrust kicks Gill off the apron, thrust kicks Hardy, and Kato finishes Hardy with a back suplex.
The Rockers try to get Hayes to do their trademark phrase but he keeps trying to put an English sound on all the terms and it does not sound cool.
The British Bulldog (28-2-1) pins Chris Duffy after the running powerslam at 2:13:
In the split screen, the Bulldog tells fans that he cannot wait to compete in Europe for the Rampage Tour. The squash features a funny bit where Duffy tries to slingshot the Bulldog into the ring via the top rope but the Bulldog blocks it and Duffy ends up going over the top rope and to the floor instead. After that, the typical Bulldog squash unfolds, and he wins with the running powerslam.
The Rockers and Hayes return to the studio, with Hayes clad in a Rockers neon green cap and purple tights. Hayes completes the Rockers trademark phrase as Heenan laughs himself silly.
Tune in next week to see Jake Roberts, the Big Bossman, and WBF star Lou Ferrigno!
The Last Word: The Lord Alfred Hayes bits with the Rockers made for good comedy, which was the highlight of the show. The Rockers’ appearance puts them back on the radar screen for a feud with the Nasty Boys. And Colonel Mustafa is finally going back to the lower midcard after two feature losses in a row.
