With “Control Your Narrative: The Wrestling Fed” launching, I have to wonder/ask, besides going after disgruntled/ex WWE guys who for, various reasons, weren't picked up by AEW for long term deals; why aren't they going after some of the Chikara alumni to shore up their roster?
I know Avery Good/Dasher Hatfield's not going to be available due to his impending retirement, but you still have a decent crop of young Chikara guys and gals (Weber Hatfield, Shae McCoy, King Crab, Edith Surreal, Spoiler X, Max Zero, among others) who would fit into the whole “Control Your Narrative” meta theme, if not expand upon beyond the concept's inherent anti-WWE aspect. As far as the Chikara folks representing a batch of up and coming wrestlers who truly “control their own narrative” in terms of being free-range wrestlers who are not bound by the controls and dictates of a big name wrestling company.
Plus, having the Chikara guys around would also further Matt Cardona's “king of the indies” gimmick by having some of the top young talent of the indies go after Matt for the way he's been running roughshot over people. And while he's no Dasher Hatfield, there is something potentially poetic of Matt going up against Weber Hatfield, given how his wrestling dad Dasher, was one of the pillars of the indie scene in the 10s as far as Matt Cardona helping Weber get to the next level by putting him over. Or even Max Zero, who out of all of the end of life stage Chikara trainees, seems to be the one with the most overt potential of breaking through to the next level with his “handsome hoss” gimmick.
I don’t know who any of those people are.
