Turning Macho Man heel instead of Backlund

Instead of doing the Bret-Backlund storyline in 94, what if it had been Macho Man instead of Backlund? Could Macho Man as heel worked in 94, and would a Macho-Bret feud have drawn big money then?

Drawing big money would be a stretch, but yeah, I think it would have worked. The problem is that by then Savage was so well liked as a babyface that it would have been hard for the fans to turn against him again, but as he showed in WCW, he could still pull it off.
