Hey Scott,
Bit of a retro question here. It's widely acknowledged that Bill Dundee was a good to great midcarder who could work well as either a face or a heel. While a 'little' short, he surely had a place somewhere in the bigger scheme of things, but aside from a brief run as Sir William alongside Regal it doesn't seem that he moved up to either company on a national basis.
Question is why?? He was around at the right time and better than some who moved up to either the WWF or WCW. Was he paid that well by Memphis or is it just he was worried about his position on the card?
I can't really see that much of a place for Dundee on the big stage. He had a cup of coffee in Crockett in the late 80s but mostly he seemed like someone who was happy sticking around Memphis and being the booker. There's no chance that he would make it past a tryout in the WWF, Vince just wouldn't see him as anything but too small.
