I don’t know if you watched AEW tonight, but MJF is in a place I can’t remember anyone being in. He’s 100% a heel who openly and savagely mocks the fans, but is “best friends” with a top face (Cody) and this gets cheered and given babyface rescue spots. It’s like he’s the bastard child of Miz and Lex Luger circa WCW 1995-96.
What are you thoughts on him and what’s his ceiling? We’re all waiting for him to inevitably turn on Cody… but do they rush that for the feud or stretch this out?
Russo always talks about "shades of grey" but MJF is really a character where he's a vile person that happens to be friends with the top babyface and it's a really weird relationship on screen as a result. I think he's going to be a huge star if WWE doesn't steal him and then bury him in developmental first, like a tippy top guy. His Twitter trolling alone is top notch.
