WCW Prime for August 28 featured Cobra in action so we will recap that match before moving onto WCW Pro.
–Prime “MOOOO” Match of the Week: Cobra (1-0) pins Dino Cassanova after a Cobra clutch slam at 2:28:
Cobra has one of the worst entrance themes in wrestling history. It is simply Morse Code. How is that supposed to fire up a crowd? Cobra tries to fire up the crowd, but they are not playing along, possibly because this bout took place near the end of a WCW Pro taping. Tony Schiavone calls Cobra’s finisher “the Cobra maneuver,” hardly the stuff of legends.
And now onto WCW Pro for September 2, with Chris Cruise, Dusty Rhodes, and Larry Zbyszko on commentary.
–Opening Contest: Johnny B. Badd (34-4-2) beats Otis Apollo after the Badd Mood at 1:54:
Apollo was a Canadian wrestler, wrestling a lot for Scott D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling promotion until 2013. Badd wows the crowd with a somersault plancha and the Badd Mood to move his win streak in singles competition to eleven.
–The Shark (w/Kevin Sullivan & Kamala) (2-0) pins Mike Davis after the Shark Attack at 3:12:
Davis manages a meager dropkick that goes into the Shark’s belly but that is not enough to help him win today. Cruise hypes the Shark’s “fin” which is the Shark coming down on his opponent like he is doing an elbow drop and dropping a chop into his opponent’s throat. After the bout, the Shark bites Davis on the throat as Dusty screams about a “feeding frenzy.”
–Cruise interview Sullivan, the Shark, and Kamala. The Shark promises to eat up all of Hulk Hogan’s team at the WarGames. Sullivan says that Hogan will never be able to touch him because the Dungeon will win the WarGames match.
–Gene Okerlund provides the Fall Brawl Control Center. Johnny B. Badd and Brian Pillman do taped promos for their match, with Badd promising not to let a title opportunity slip away while Pillman says the best man will win and that man is going to be him.
–Arn Anderson (19-10-2) beats Eddie Jackie after a DDT at 3:40:
Anderson was television champion when he defeated Jackie on the May 6 edition of WCW Saturday Night. The circumstances have changed but Jackie’s inability to defeat Ric Flair’s former enforcer, who Cruise says will wrestle Hacksaw Jim Duggan in two weeks on WCW Pro. That encounter will not be a taped fist match, though.
–Cruise interviews Duggan. Duggan is not happy that his future match with Anderson is not going to be a taped fist match, but he says his experience and brawling skills can overcome Anderson’s technical prowess. The 2×4 he carries does not hurt either.
–Big Bubba Rogers (22-6-1) pins Scott Armstrong (0-7) after a Big Bubba Slam at 6:01:
Cruise makes it official that on the first edition of Monday Nitro Rogers will face Hulk Hogan. Considering those circumstances, Armstrong gets a lot of offense, dazing Rogers with some forearms before trying a flying body press. Rogers botches his catch the first time but they repeat the spot so he can plant Armstrong with a spinebuster. Rogers uses a lot of rest holds and when Armstrong tries a late comeback, he runs into a Big Bubba Slam. Rating: ¼*

–WCW Tag Team Championship Match: The Blue Bloods (21-3-2) defeat Dick Slater & Bunkhouse Buck (Champions w/Colonel Robert Parker) (20-10-1) via disqualification when Parker interferes at 6:19:
Since WCW Worldwide often exists in its own universe, the battle these teams had last week is ignored. Like that match, though, the Blue Bloods struggle because Slater and Buck smell bad and Sherri once again comes out, although this time she is on crutches, and tries to rip Parker’s clothes off. Parker flees into the ring and stumbles over Lord Steven Regal, drawing a weak disqualification. The action here was okay but both teams were just biding time until Sherri made her appearance. Rating: *½
–Cruise tells fans that Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Big Bubba Rogers will face off on WCW Saturday Night.
The Last Word: Compared to last week’s effort, this was a poor episode. The Arn Anderson squash went too long, Big Bubba Rogers and Scott Armstrong were sloppy, and the main event tag was filler so the fans could be reminded for the 1,000th time that Sister Sherri is attracted to Colonel Robert Parker. It could not be clearer that Slater and Buck were lame duck champions and only a fool would bet on them for Fall Brawl.
