A) What is the logic behind giving five year contracts to lower midcard guys? Does Vince think AEW is ready to break the bank for Jinder Mahal, Mojo Rawley, Mike Kannelis, etc? I don’t see the financial sense.
B) Also, Baron Corbin just main evented a PPV. If he got fired tomorrow, would any competing wrestling company in the world sign him? As a wrestler, draw, “sex appeal”, I think he’d be out of the business.
A. The idea is that you lock up everyone available for as long as possible, just in case. Plus you're not breaking the bank to re-sign them and they get financial stability and feel beholden to WWE for another five years. It's win-win.
B. As long as they could work around his schedule at Applebees, there's a million indy promotions that would sign Corbin in a heartbeat. Tall, muscular, ex-WWE guys are like catnip to promoters. Hell, BIG CASS still gets work.
