WWE on WGN/ION

When the WWE tried their luck airing C and D shows "Superstars" on WGN America from 2009-2011, and "Main Event" on ION from 2012-2014, what were the reasons those programs only lasted a few years? Did those stations choose not to renew their deal for whatever reasons, or did the WWE pull the plug themselves?
Cancelled due to low ratings.
