WM phoned in?

By Scott Keith on 10 April 2019

Hi Scott,

Am I the only one who feels that this year's WM felt phoned in? I don't consider WM 34 for example to be some amazing show, but it overall seemed like a more conscious, focused effort despite the odd booking.

This year felt like nobody in WWE really cared that much. The set for example was probably the laziest WM set ever. Just one big screen that's left over from WM 27 without ANYTHING added to it? The matches mostly felt like there was no sense of urgency, like a regular RAW or SD. WM 34 in comparison at least seemed like everyone gave that little extra WM effort even if it didn't result in great matches up and down the card. Reigns/McIntyre for example wasn't expected to be some classic, but it's like they didn't even aim for anything more than just a filler match.

IDK, outside of Kofi/Bryan (which admittedly had me marking out the most since all the way back at WM 30 for Daniel Bryan), this just didn't feel like a WM effort.
I would agree. The RAW and Smackdown afterwards also sounded like they came off as incredibly lazy as well. Wrestlemania seems to be a polarizing show, but there was tons of disappointment about RAW in particular.
