Why was WCW Saturday Night cancelled in it's original form? Normally I would've just chalked it up to being a ratings thing, but it was turned into one of those stupid recap shows before it was removed from the schedule completely after several months.(The really ironic thing is that up until it's cancellation Saturday Night became more entertaining than Nitro or Thunder at the time, as it often featured young talent that was rarely/never used on the main programs.) At any rate, was this a rare case of WCW ending it rather than Turner?
That was all TBS, and a worse sign for the future of the promotion you could not find than "One of the longest running wrestling shows of all time gets unceremoniously canned". WCW was clinging desperately to any TV they could get at that point and had they not been cancelled, Bischoff's new version could have subsisted with WCW Saturday Night on a reduced budget for many years.
