Observation

By Scott Keith on 27 January 2019

This is more of an observation than it is a question, but with the Rumble being this weekend, I believe it is relevant.

One of the reasons that I used to enjoy PPV’s like RR and Survivor Series, maybe even more than the others, was the interaction on these shows between wrestlers that fans would never see in the same ring at any other point during the year.

For example, I recall an early RR when Hogan was in the ring with Tully and Arn (who were fresh in to the WWF from being Horsemen at the time), and my very young self thought “Wow. This is probably the closest we’ll ever get to seeing Hogan vs Flair” (how wrong I turned out to be on that one).

It’s hard to get excited for these events anymore when it’s the same rehashed feuds with the same performers all year long. They even claim to have two separate brands, yet still showcase basically the same matchups.

Anyway, I realize I’m not breaking any new ground with this. Just a little nostalgic viewpoint on this Rumble weekend.

A hot take indeed.
