We've seen lately how Becky's new gimmick of "The Man" took off. What now gets forgotten is that it was initially just a dig at Flair's famous "To Be the Man" quote for her feud with Charlotte.
What's your favorite instance of a thing done first just for a specific feud, but it stuck & ended up being part of the character for years?
For me, I always go to how Cena adapted a Firemans Carry-based Finish & dubbed it the F-U for a one month transition feud with Brock to mess with him, and it stuck forever…
That would have been my pick. I'd also go with Roddy Piper adopting the sleeper to mess with Adrian Adonis and then using it as his finisher for the rest of his career. Oh! Oh! Better one: Brutus Beefcake cutting Adonis's hair to get revenge and then becoming a full time barber.
