RAW

Hey Scott, was reading an article where Jimmy Jacobs and Seth Rollins defended the writers of RAW for having to write 5 hours of programming a week. In some aspects I get it, but, if that is the case why not let the wresrling itself tell the story. Its not like WWE is light on talent. Guys like Rollins, Ambrose, Balor, can tell a story in the ring, not be heavy on writing. Am I wrong?

I got in WCWNWA late in the game, but, did Funk/Flair need a crazy backstory? It was a piledriver that sparked a rivalry. It was the characters themselves. It has become so bland and with a lack of emotion or development. Sometimes you dont need a corny storyline to entertain. I read your rants on WCW in 97, and the undercard Luchas and Workers carried the bottom half, and the corny storylines, which some that were terrible, were forgotten, due to good talent. WWE has this and should just rely on that.

Also, in 2000 they had five hours of TV to write for (Heat, RAW, Smackdown) and managed to do pretty OK with that. The problem is that, as you note, they don't need to "write" everything. Why exactly do we NEED precise scripts noting where crowd pops are and stuff?
